[ BANDAGE ] : jing yuan & yinyue
not every wound was worth lamenting over, and not every injury could be avoided. in jing yuan's case, few things truly managed to put him in danger as far as physical health went, these days.
the sparring sessions he had settled with that day had been drawn-out, extensive and, towards the end, admittedly invigorating even for the general. despite growing more exhausted as time went on, he had enjoyed the level of physical exertion and even welcomed what started out as mere bruises.
it was only towards the end of the sessions, when he had challenged yanqing to a match with their real weapons that he found himself obtaining a rare, shallow cut. his charge had always shown great promise, but seeing him growing stronger as he was filled his heart with pride each time anew, and so even that minuscule hit only served to put him in elevated spirits.
that is, of course, until he returned to yinyue's side and was promptly coaxed to let his dear take a look t that light wound of his.
reasonably speaking, an injury like that had no bearing on his day-to-day life, though he understood that a lover may not make light of it the same way a warrior might. as he sat and watched him drape the bandage around his arm, his thoughts inevitably strayed towards the many medics who had seen similar scenes, to those who had treated people like him, people who grew just a touch drunk on feeling alive in a moment of struggle, no matter how light-hearted.
perhaps it was not worth mentioning or worrying over to jing yuan, but presuming yinyue's feelings or thoughts would be doing him a disservice, too.
just around the time the cut was well and truly seen to, he thus lifted a hand and settled it gently against his cheek. ❛ yinyue, ❜ he called, a softly playful chime that carried a spark of sincerity with it. ❛ i shan't let you see me come to more harm than this, if i can help it. ❜
