Room Service || Ruth & Kai
Ruth looked around the hotel room with tired eyes, the straight edges and uniform cleanliness of the room causing an odd nervous energy in her chest. The events of the past couple of days played in her head like a movie on repeat, the images as clear as they had been in reality. Her bag lay on the bed, the few books she had managed to save, the wise spines peeking out at her. Her eyes moved to Olive, who remained seemingly healthy as she dozed at the foot of the bed. The only sound in the room was the snoring of the dog, and the monotonous drip of the bathroom faucet Ruth used to wash her face.
With the sudden need to leave, to escape the stuffy room and the memories of the flames and smoke, Ruth walked out the door and made her way down the hall, before coming to a halt in front of room 317. Ruth paused then, unsure of what she would say when he opened the door. With a deep breath, and three quick knocks later, the door was swinging open, and her heart sped up.
“I - um, I just needed to get out of my room and was wondering if you want to go on a walk?”
