Angels are among us. They are scattered across the globe, living in our neighborhoods, observing humanity--the Earthian--in crisisā¦
Ā Chihaya and Kagetsuya have known each other since their days at school. They are friendsā¦ and possibly more. Ā These two angels roam the world, compiling lists of the positive and negative traits of humanity. In the process, they become involved in the lives of various humans, full of despair: An astronaut about to venture on a dangerous mission, a sorceress running from the mafia, and a mysterious artificially created human are just a few of those beings who Chihaya puts himself at risk to help, much to Kagetsuyaās dismay.
Ā But after a meeting of angels, it is discovered that a terrible disease is plaguing a growing legion of angels. Salvation possibly lies in the fallen angel Lord Seraphim--and as Chihaya and Kagetsuya search to find him, he turns up in the most unlikely of placesā¦

[INTRO]
[Earth. The third planet from the sun. A beautiful planet of water and air, where 4.5 billion Earthian live. More than 5 billion years have passed since the group of Angels known as āCheckersā from the planet Eden, began observing them.]
[The Angels on Eden divide and check for the pluses and minuses of the Earthianās actions from their two orbiting bases. One is Valhalla on the moon. The other is Isana on Earth.]
Michael: Once 10,000 minuses have been accounted for... weāll have no choice but to eradicate the Earthian.
[Archangel Michael / Space Army Commander-in-Chief]
Chihaya: But, Lord Michael!
[Chihaya / Michaelās adopted son]
Michael: Now now, Chihaya. You have to understand, this isnāt our choice. The actions of the Earthian caused this result.Ā
[The angels are divided into groups of two, with one member in each pair assigned to carry out the investigation of pluses or minuses respectively.]
Chihaya: Once I become a soldier, I would like to volunteer to be a checker for the pluses.Ā
[Chihaya / Plus Checker]
Kagetsuya: A checker? Why would I be anything but a checker for minuses? I hate the Earthian, after all.
[Kagetsuya / Scion of the noble Sakura family / Minus Checker]

Chihaya: Why do you have to hate them, Kagetsuya?
Kagetsuya: What can I say? I donāt like them because I donāt like them. Besides, whoever heard of a team of a plus and a plus? And who else would be willing to partner with you anyway?

[ ETERNAL ROMANCE (Part 2) ]
[Planet Eden - Michaelās Mansion]
Ā Michael: [pensive] Soā¦ I canāt believe Chihaya really went.
M: I never really intended for him to be a checker.
Ā Raphael: Oh?
R: Though I do believe you were the one who told him he could choose whatever he wanted to do if he graduated at the top of his class.
R: Heās made his decision.
Ā [Raphael / Michaelās Aide]
Ā Michael: He even skipped some levels. I really didnāt think heād manage to be first. And to imagine that Kagetsuya came in second.
Ā Raphael: It wasnāt Kagetsuyaās fault. Chihaya has plenty of potential.
R: And it is quite strange how much Chihaya cares for Earth.
Ā Michael: Thatās what I canāt figure out!
M: Itās clearly no ādream planet.ā Itās certainly not what Chihaya thinks it is.
Ā Raphael: Yes, thatās true. Thereās not that much difference between Eden and Earth. There are both good and bad people living there. Chihayaās idealsā¦ His ideals are far too beautiful. Like an illusion.
Ā Michael: [biting his fingernail in an agitated manner] Thatās what I canāt stand most.
Ā Raphael: That child will be betrayedā¦ hurtā¦ and brought to tears.
Ā Ā Michael: Who knows? Perhaps his time on Earth will be enough to change him.
Ā Raphael: [serving Michael tea] That may be true. However, Lord Michaelā¦ I believe that a child like Chihaya may have the power to destroy the illusion.
Michael: Raphaelā¦
Ā Raphael: Besidesā¦ he isnāt going alone.

Ā [Chihaya: Dear Archangel Michaelā¦ itās Chihaya! How is everyone doing?I am currently on my first trip down to Earth as a checker. Earth has turned out to be exactly how Iād studied it in school.]
Ā Kagetsuya: [helping Chihaya to move items around a room] If youāre going to be in my group, you better do your work efficiently and honestly! Remember, anything you do, I take responsibility for too.
K: (Hey, move it over there!)
Ā Chihaya: O-okay.
Ā [Chihaya: My partner is Kagetsuya.]
Ā Kagetsuya: And if thereās anything you donāt like eating, tell me now. I wonāt stand for picky eaters. But I understand that everyone has something that they donāt like to eat, so itās okay.
Ā [Chihaya: Right now, we are in the city called Tokyo in Japan.]
Ā Kagetsuya: [proudly] I happen to like cooking. Iām pretty good at it, too.
Ā [Chihaya: As soon as weāre done putting everything in order weāre heading off to California in the U.S.A.]
Ā Chihaya: Okay!
Ā [Who knowsā¦ just how his beloved planet Earth will change him?]
[Elsewhere.]
Ā [Sirens blaring, an overhead shot of a facility, with people running around looking frantic about something]
Ā Guard: We have an escapee who must be captured!
G: The escapee is Professor Ashiyaās Product Number 01!
G: Taki!
G: We must not permit him to get away!
G: Itās Taki!!
Ā Professor Ashiya: I see. So Takiās escaped?
PA: How on Earth could this have happened? Could this mean heās developed his own consciousness? And he was only supposed to be my toy.
Ā Researcher: Heās with Number 02, Takano! Theyāre breaking down gate after gate! At this rate, theyāll reach the outside!
R: We donāt have much time, Professor! What do we do?
Ā Professor Ashiya: It will be a problem if they get out. Iāll go.
PA: What is their current position?
Ā Researcher: Gate 2.
R: Theyāre not far from Gate 0. What are your orders?
Ā Professor Ashiya: [smugly] Hmm. Bravo.
Ā Researcher: Professor Ashiya! How can you be so calm!
Ā Professor Ashiya: Thereās nothing to worry about. So, how many has he killed so far?
Ā Researcher: Huh?
Ā Professor Ashiya: Iām asking how many people heās killed.
Ā Researcher: N-no human casualties yet, sirā¦ but itās probably only a matter of time. But as for the cyber-noids, heās already destroyed more than fortyā¦
Ā Professor Ashiya: That means his Pavlov system is still working. Forget the cyber-noids and use the security guards! Number 01 and 02 have been programmed NOT to lay a hand on humans.
PA: Thereās nothing to worry about. You might get a bit bruised up, but nothing close to death. You should be able to surround them easily. Iām on my way out now.
PA: Taki and Takano wouldnāt dare harm a hair on my head. After all, Iām Professor Ashiya, the father of the biohumanoids.
Ā [Blood spatters against a wall. Close up of it dripping down someoneās arm]
Ā Takano: Taki! Are you alright?!
Ā Taki: Takano!
Ā Guard: The doc was right! They wonāt even touch us!
G: Call the cyber-noids back and bring in human reinforcements to surround them!
Ā [More sirens start blaring, a large spotlight shines on the two of them as Taki looks on with a face heavily streaked with blood]
Ā Professor Ashiya: What is the meaning of this little escapade, Taki? You donāt like it here at the house?
Ā Taki: Please let us go, professor.
Ā Professor Ashiya: I must admit, you impress me, Taki. Youāve utterly destroyed 52 cyber-noids, and injured eight researchers and 14 security guards.
PA: [unsheathing a large hunting knife] I wouldnāt have expected any less from my ultimate creation.
Ā Taki: Please let us go free, professor.
Ā Professor Ashiya: [brandishing the knife threateningly in front of Takiās startled face] Sorry, but I canāt do that. I have absolutely no intention of letting you two go.
Ā Taki: No, professor, donāt!
T: TAKANO!
Ā [Taki throws himself in front of Takano, who screams as she watches the knife plunge into his stomach deeply]
Ā Takano: NOOOOOOO!!!
Ā Guard: Professor! What are you doing! Are you trying to destroy him?
Ā Professor Ashiya: Fools! Donāt be ridiculous. You think this little wound would be enough to finish him off?
PA: You simpletons may not know this, but these biohumanoids are quite sturdily built. They were created using artificial protein and hybrid DNA. The cells in his veins are extra fortified.
PA: [yanking Taki up by his hair] In short, he was made with the exact same elements as a regular human. Blood, bones, muscle. But all far stronger than the norm. My preciousā¦ doll.
Ā Takano: [crying] Professor! Stop! Please stop!
Ā [The guards look on in horror as Professor Ashiya proceeds to slit Takiās throat with the knife]
Ā Takano: TAKI!!
T: NO!!!
T: [clutching Taki to her desperately] Stop it professor! Donāt forget that we can still feel physical pain!
Ā Professor Ashiya: Yes, just like a human.
PA: Pass me the shotgun.
Ā Takano: ā¦Noā¦ Wh-what are you doing?!
Ā Professor Ashiya: I hypothesize even one hundred shots with this wonāt be enough to stop Taki. But heās immobilized, we can take him back home.
PA: Now be a good girl and step aside.
Ā [Takano stands up]
Ā Taki: Takanoā¦
Ā Takano: [angrily] No! Youāll kill him!
T: Taki! Run for it!
T: Get out of here, Taki!
Ā Professor Ashiya: Stop this at once, Takano!
Ā [Taki: Butā¦ I donāt thinkā¦ I can move anymore.]
Ā Takano: GO!!
Ā [Slamming the knife into the wall, Taki uses it to vault himself over it]
Ā Professor Ashiya: DAMMIT!
Ā [Professor Ashiya whirls around and slaps Takano]
Ā Professor Ashiya: Bring her back to the lab!
PA: Too bad for you that only Taki got away.
Ā Takano: I was planning for only Taki to escape from the start!
T: Because I knew that it wasnāt possible for both of us to escape from you.
Ā Professor Ashiya: Oh, I donāt think heās out of the woods just yet, my dear. My little toy still has the city to contend with.
[Elsewhere.]
Ā [Another shot of the city, at night. A sign reads: JR Subway Seibu Line]
Ā Chihaya: Huhā¦? Where am I now? Where was that New York Hotel located again?
C: I know I have to leave by the west exit.
C: If Iām late again, Kagetsuya will have my head! Itās hard enough trying to memorize the train lines around here!
C: (I should have taken the bus!)
Ā [Chihaya turns around at the sound of a voice nearby]
Ā Subway Worker: Hey, Mister! Wake up! This is the last stop! Weāre in Shinjuku!
SW: [muttering] Goddamn drunks! Always causing trouble!
Ā [Chihaya sees a person sitting huddled on the ground, and stops to take a closer look at him]
Ā Chihaya: (Drunkā¦? No! This isā¦ the smell of blood!)
C: (But whose blood? Is it human? His own? Or someone elseās?)
C: Uh, excuse meā¦?
C: (Did he hurt someone?)
C: Are you okay? Do you need to be taken to the hospital?
C: (Orā¦ did someone elseā¦ hurt him?)
Ā [Taki glances up and sees Chihaya standing there. Tears run down his face]
Ā Taki: Ohā¦
Ā Chihaya: (Oh my god!)
Ā T: [covering his face] Erā¦ N-no. Iām fine.
Ā Chihaya: Uhā¦ Wh-whatās the matter?
C: (Oh noā¦ Oh no, oh no! I just talked to an Earthian!)
C: (I talked to a regular person!)
C: [blushing] (He sure is pretty.)
C: Wh-why are youā¦ crying?
Ā Taki: A-ahā¦ Never mindā¦ itās nothing.
Ā Chihaya: B-butā¦
Chihaya: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.
Ā Taki: ā¦Can Iā¦ ask you a question?
T: Thereās nothing abnormal about me, right? I lookā¦ completely normal, donāt I?
Ā [Chihaya just stares at him]
Ā Chihaya: (Uh, well, youāre covered in blood and your clothes are a mess. I canāt exactly say you look normal, butā¦ I know thatās not really what you mean.)
Ā Taki: Iām no different from you, right?
Ā Chihaya: (Well, you might be a little different from me, butā¦)
C: [smiling] Right.
Ā [Taki stares back at Chihaya, then ducks his head again]
Ā Taki: This had to beā¦ the worst night of my life. I hurt the people around me for my own sake. And left behind a friend to save myself.
T: Tonightā¦ I was nothing but a coward.
Ā [T: But, professorā¦ Iām not just your doll.]
Ā Ā Ā [Flashback.]
Ā Professor Ashiya: Ah, my precious Taki. Youāre such a good boy. Youāre the best of all the biohumanoids Iāve created thus far. I even developed a new type of blood just for you. I call it type D blood. Itās actually quite similar to type O at first glance, butā¦
PA: I created you, Taki. My memories are recorded within your DNA. The Pavlov system. In a sense, I am your God. You canāt betray me.
Ā Taki: (Professorā¦)
Ā Professor Ashiya: And you are merely an imitation of life. An artificial being created by the hands of man.
Ā Taki: (But professorā¦)
Ā Professor Ashiya: There is no way you can defy humans.
PA: Iāll add new input in time. After all, you were created for military purposes.
Ā Taki: (Professor, Iām not planning on disobeying anyone.)
Ā Professor Ashiya: My precious Takiā¦ My one and onlyā¦ doll.
Ā Taki: (But Iām not planning on killing anyone either.)
T: (I donāt mind doing as Iām told. I even love the professor.)
T: (Butā¦ am I really just a fake? Does that mean Iām already dead? Then why is my heart still beating? What does it mean to be an imitation of life? Professor, am I really just a simulacrumā¦ a forgery?)
Ā [End flashback.]
Ā Ā Ā Taki: [buries his face in his hands] Thatās allā¦ I wanted to know.
Ā [T: Thenā¦ what is real? Who is real? Am Iā¦ Am I really only a fake?]
Ā Ā Ā [The hotel.]
Ā Kagetsuya: [clearly agitated] Heās late!!
K: What the hell could he be up to?! Probably got careless and--
K: Heās hopelessā¦
K: (But maybe Iām getting too worked up over this. I should just leave it be. But I canāt help it. Especially after I was asked to look after him!)
Ā Ā Ā [Flashback.]
Ā Michael: Kagetsuya. Chihayaās just that kind of person soā¦ I hope I can trust you to take good care of him.
Ā Kagetsuya: Yes, sir.
Ā Michael: And Iām not just asking you as a friend.
M: Black hair and black eyes. Heās the only one of his kind on Eden.
Ā Kagetsuya: ā¦ā¦ā¦.
Ā Michael: (Chihaya, the mutation.)
M: (Since the time when he graduated from school at the top of his class and began his military dutiesā¦ he has been blessed with a certain few allies and supporters.)
M: Personally, itās not so much the plus and minus business that has me worried. Itās whether or not itās having a positive influence on him.
Ā Kagetsuya: Do you think heāll be all right on Earth?
Ā Michael: [sipping tea] Well, you two have been together since military school, so I think itās a good pairing.
Ā Kagetsuya: B-but I canāt do that! Heās the one who made valedictorian!
Ā Michael: Iām surprised, Kagetsuya. I didnāt think youād be concerned about that.
Ā Kagetsuya: [embarrassed] What do you mean by that? Lord Michael?!
Ā Michael: Donāt worry about it. I came in third.
Ā Kagetsuya: Third?! You mean there were two other students above you?!
Ā Michael: Yes. Thatās why Iām telling you not to worry.
Ā Raphael: That would be me.
Ā Kagetsuya: !
Ā Raphael: I made valedictorian over Michael.
Ā Kagetsuya: But thenā¦ who came in second?
Ā Raphael: Lady Lucifel.
Ā [Michael turns and looks at him, initially very shocked, but now very guarded and upset]
Ā Michael: Raphael!
Ā Kagetsuya: Lady Lucifelā¦?
Ā Raphael: Yes. Lord Michaelās younger sister.
Ā Michael: She died, though. Long before either of you were born.
Ā Kagetsuya: I-Iām sorryā¦
Ā Michael: [unnerving smile] Itās quite all right. After all, Raphaelās the one who brought it up.
Ā Chihaya: Lord Michael?
C: Look at these roses! Even the late oneās are budding now!
C: Would you please look after them while Iām away?
Ā Michael: [smiling gently] Of course. Just be sure to come by and visit during the holidays.
Ā [A woman appears, holding a bouquet of flowers.]
Ā Gabriel: Look what Chihaya gave me!
Ā Raphael: Ah, Gabriel.
Ā Kagetsuya: (Lady Gabrielā¦)
Ā Raphael: Well, I suppose itās time we took our leave now, Kagetsuya.
Ā Kagetsuya: Yes, of course.
Ā Raphael: And, Kagetsuya, do be sure to look after Chihaya. You are his elder, you know.
Ā Gabriel: Good luck, Kagetsuya!
Ā Kagetsuya: Yesā¦ Iāll do my best.
K: (Hearing those words from Lady Gabriel was almost enoughā¦ but it was also a relief to know that Lord Michael didnāt make valedictorian in his day. Though it didnāt help any to know that Raphael did. Hmph.)
Ā [End flashback.]
Ā Ā Ā Chihaya: Kagetsuya, Iām home!
Ā Kagetsuya: You have any idea what time it is?!
K: Just what the heck have you been up to? You could have at least called--
K: [stops short]
K: And who is this?
Ā Chihaya: N-now please donāt be angry, butā¦
Ā Taki: Good evening.
Ā [Taki sits quietly while Kagetsuya berates Chihaya.]
Ā Kagetsuya: Just what were you thinking bringing home some stranger?!
Ā Chihaya: I couldnāt helpt it!
C: I couldnāt just leave him there!
Ā Kagetsuya: Yes you could have! And I can tell thereās something up with him!
K: His clothes are tattered and blood stained! Thoseāre obviously knife slashes.
K: Not to mention heās covered all over with scratches and scrapes.
K: Somethingās odd about him. Canāt you sense it?
K: A regular human would be in an uproar!
K: [sigh] I donāt knowā¦ thereās something different about him.
Ā Chihaya: Yeah, Iām not too sure either, butā¦ I think heās a good guy.
Ā Kagetsuya: Idiot!
Ā Chihaya: Kagetsuya?!
Ā Kagetsuya: [grabbing a first aid kit] You donāt just go around bringing random men into your hotel room!
Ā Taki: Iām sorry for the trouble.
Ā Kagetsuya: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
K: (Heās surprisingly friendly.)
K: Youāre injured. Show me the wounds.
Ā Taki: Huh? Oh, th-thereās no need to--
Ā Kagetsuya: No buts! This is no time to act timid!
K: Come on then! Hurry it up!
Ā [Taki sighs]
Ā Kagetsuya: Take off your shirt.
Ā [Taki reluctantly does so]
Ā Kagetsuya: (Thereāre wounds on his neck. Thereās something wrong here. It was almost likeā¦ his neck was cut open. His chest too. Looks pretty deep.)
K: Now I wonāt butt in asking what happened, butā¦
Chihaya: Your wounds. Good thing they werenāt too deep.
Kagetsuya: Right. They arenāt very serious at all.
Ā Taki: (I am running on fortified cells. I have an extra amount of blood and healing abilities.)
T: [smiling] Iām so glad. Thank you very much!
Ā Kagetsuya: Iāll go and heat up something for you to eat.
Ā Chihaya: And Iāll go and find you a change of clothes.
Ā [They exit the room]
Ā Kagetsuya: Heyā¦ do you suppose his carotid artery was cut?
Ā Chihaya: (If so, he should be dead!)
C: Noā¦ it couldnāt be.
Ā Kagetsuya: Right. Thatās impossible.
K: (Unless he was never alive to begin with.)
K: (Butā¦ he still smells like an Earthian.)
Ā [The three of them sit down for dinner]
Ā Chihaya: So, whatās your name?
Ā Taki: [smiling] Itās Taki.
Ā Chihaya: Ooh! Thatās a cute name! Iām Chihaya! And this is Kagetsuya!
C: How old are you?
Ā Taki: Two years old!
Ā Chihaya: T-two?
Ā [Kagetsuya stares at Taki suspiciously]
Ā Taki: Oops! I- I meant twenty!
Ā Chihaya: Twenty, huh?
Ā Taki: (Technically, I was built two years ago.)
Ā Kagetsuya: ā¦What are you?
Ā Taki: Thank you for going through all the trouble of helping me. But Iām just Taki. Isnāt that enough?
T: Thatās all I know.
Ā Kagetsuya: Well, I suppose you have your reasons for being secretive, just as we do.
Ā Chihaya: Kagetsuya?
Ā Kagetsuya: Three guys with mysterious secrets? Itās natural. I suggest we agree not to ask each other anything.
Ā [Taki: Just what did he mean by āwhat are you?ā Thatās whatā¦ I want to know most.]
Ā Ā Ā [Ashiyaās Lab.]
Ā Guard: (on the phone) Iām sorry, sir, but weāve lost track of Taki!
Ā Professor Ashiya: LOST HIM?!
Ā Guard: Y-yes sir! I would have thought we had enough people, butā¦ he managed to shake us off.
Ā Professor Ashiya: I guess I shouldnāt be surprised. You are dealing with Taki. Thereās no way that even a group like yours could catch him easily.
Ā Guard: We got as far as Shinjuku before losing sight of him. Who knows where he could be by now.
Ā Professor Ashiya: Youāre carrying the counter with you, correct? It will react to the nuclear material in Takiās āheartā mechanism. It should be able to search him out with a radius of 50 kilometers.
PA: Capture him and bring him back here at any costs! I donāt care if he loses an arm and a leg in the process! Taki will survive no matter what you do to him.
Ā [Takano silently listens to his ravings in the background]
Ā PA: Bring him back to me! Iām not done playing with him!
PA: Understood? If heās in hiding, then smoke him out of the building if you have to!
PA: Bury him in flames! Thatāll be the only way you will be able to bring him back.
Ā Takano: Takiā¦
Ā Professor Ashiya: Donāt worry, Takano. If anything happens, I can always whip up a new batch of artificial skin and recover him.
PA: Of course, it may sting a bit, what with the lack of anaesthesia. But it wonāt kill him.
PA: And Iāll be sure to give him just as pretty a face as before! Just like you.
PA: [caressing Takanoās face] Iāve always been fond of beautiful things.
Ā Ā [The hotel.]
Ā Chihaya: [gazing at Taki admiringly] It really is pretty!
Ā Taki: Huh? What is?
Ā Chihaya: Your face!
Ā Taki: R-really? I didnāt think it was anything special.
Ā Chihaya: No way! You look like you could be a model!
Ā Taki: [surprised] Y-you really think so?
Ā Chihaya: Yup, your personality shows through it.
Ā Taki: [thoughtful] Personality? I didnāt think my face showed it. I didnāt even think I had a personality.

Ā [The emergency fire sprinklers activate suddenly]

C: The buildingās on fire!

K: We have no choice. Weāll have to head for the roof.
Ā Chihaya: B-but the roof?
Ā Kagetsuya: Help might arrive while we still have enough oxygen in our face masks.
Ā [The sounds of a young child crying nearby]
Ā Taki: Whatās the matter, sweetie?
Ā Little Girl: I canāt find my mommy!
Ā Taki: Youāll be okay. Come with me.
T: [placing an oxygen mask on her] Here. Put this on.
Ā Chihaya: Taki! Over this way! We can still use the emergency stairs!
Ā [Overhead view of the stairs, surrounded by flames]
Ā Chihaya: Kagetsuyaā¦?
Ā Kagetsuya: We need to hurry! These stairs will collapse any minute!
Ā Chihaya: [communicating with Kagetsuya telepathically] ((This is an emergency! Why donāt we just instantaneously transport ourselves out of here?))
Ā Kagetsuya: ((No! The only place we can go from here is space! An Earthian would never survive the trip!))
Ā Taki: Iām sorry. But Iām going to let the girl go down first.
Ā Chihaya: Right!
Ā Kagetsuya: (We can get out safely anytime, butā¦ what about Taki?)
Ā Taki: You can make it down by yourself, right?
T: I want you to run down as fast as you can until you get to the bottom, okay? And donāt stop on your way down.
Ā Little Girl: Mkay!
Ā Taki: (I hope it holds her.)
Ā [The stairs creak and groan as the child makes her way down them]
Ā Chihaya: Will she be alright? Sheās halfway down so far.
C: Pleaseā¦ let it hold her weight!
Ā [An ominous KA-KLANG noise as the stairs start to give way under the childsā feet]
Ā Little Girl: Yeek!
Ā [Taki swiftly grabs a hold of the railing with one hand]
Ā Taki: Youāll be okay! Just keep going!
Ā Chihaya: TAKI!
Ā Kagetsuya: Idiot! Let go of the railing! You canāt hold it!
Ā [The little girl continues running down the rapidly deteriorating stairway]
Ā Taki: But if I let goā¦ the stairs will fall..
Ā Chihaya: (Heās notā¦)
C: (Heās not human!!)
C: (A human arm could never hold up seven flights of emergency stairs!)
C: Taki!
C: Please! Let go of it, Taki! KAGETSUYA!
C: Help him, Kagetsuya!
Ā Kagetsuya: Calm down, Chihaya. Takiā¦ whatā¦
Ā Taki: Iām sorry, Iā¦
Ā [Taki grunts in pain, and blood starts dripping down the arm holding the railing]
Ā Chihaya: Oh no! Your arm! Your arms going to get torn off!
C: Let go now, Taki!
Ā Taki: No! The stairs--
Ā Chihaya: Itās all right! She made it to the bottom!
Ā [As Chihaya and Kagetsuya watch, Takiās face contorts in pain, and thereās a sudden ripping sound as his right arm is wrenched off his body. He sits back, clutching the limb in his other hand and staring at the spot where it used to be attached, where wires are clearly visible now. Thereās blood everywhere.]
Ā Taki: I guess thereās no use trying to hide it now.
T: Itās trueā¦ Iām not humanā¦
Ā [Next to Kagetsuya, Chihayaās short hair lengthens as he looks on.]
Ā Taki: Oh god, it hurt. But I just wanted to know one thing.
Ā Chihaya: [crying silently] Takiā¦
Ā Taki: I wanted to knowā¦ if I broke, would I die? Would I get to sleepā¦ where everyone else sleeps when theyāve died?
Ā [Chihaya cradles Taki gently in his lap and holds him. His black wings stretch outward to the sky.]
Ā Chihaya: Yes, youāll get to sleep there too. Iām sure of it.
Ā Chihaya: ā¦Because youāre an Earthian.
