Why have a funeral for a dog? After all, it's "just" a dog. No matter what training the dog had, it served the public. Military and civil K9s serve around the world and give their lives in some cases. We hold a funeral for a K9 because it's the standard that we've set for all who serve. My heart goes out to his partner Mike and the rest of their family. Mike also lost Ranger in the line of duty in 2005.
