The past fifteen minutes had been…eventful, to put it lightly. Before all chaos had erupted, Carter was treating a senile patient back in curtain five with a shin lac, but since she kept forgetting who he was, he decided to just let her believe whatever delusion came to mind upon her tragic brain resets.
Unfortunately, Tara took it upon herself to enter and address him as “Dr. Carter,” which left the woman in a panicked rage — “You’re not my Myron!” — and she’d decked him hard across the face with a surprisingly deft uppercut. The rock on her finger, in turn, had been rather substantial, so he was now bleeding from a long scratch across his cheek.
“It’s not funny,” Carter grumbled, holding still while Tara irrigated the wound. “Not to brag or anything, but before you came along, I’d managed to avoid getting a good old-fashioned granny ass-kicking.”
Sourly folding his arms, he leaned back with a hiss once she applied antiseptic. “Easy!” he warned. “I only need a little.”
Tara’s technique was perfectly fine — in fact, perfectly perfect, as some would argue — which only served to nettle him all the more. She’d not only disrupted Carter’s trust with his patient, but the natural order of things between himself and his superiors. He wasn’t sure what Tara was angling for at County, but he was very suspicious.
“No sutures, right?” he asked, eager to be on his way.
