You know what, there's no way some of Hermann's many letters to HR didn't include complains about Newt Jamming Too Hard. Just look at all the instruments he's got on his side of the lab:

I'm spotting:

Three electronic keyboards

An electronic drum set

A guitar

A piano

Two microphones

A trumpet

A set of bongos

A stomp box

One can only imagine how many times Hermann had to listen to Newt making a ruckus. Can you imagine Newt taking a shine to play the trumpet or practice the drums while Hermann's trying to crunch numbers at two AM?

So I know Two Things here:

The jaeger staging area is at sea level. (It's behind the big massive doors.)

The k-sci lab is not on the same level as the jaeger staging area.

Now this means one of two things: either the k-sci lab is upstairs or downstairs relative to the staging area. Now of course, upstairs is the sensible option - a base on an island like that has no business having a basement. But on the other hand, I know how much Guillermo del Toro likes it when things are underground (ie, A Lot), so I cannot rule it out at this time.

Perhaps further discoveries will shed insight...
