The Empiric knew very well of who Maxwell was. What she didn’t expect was him showing up out of the absolute blue during a trial. Sure, she wasn’t in trials as a survivor for a while, and even then the only time he appeared during them was to get frisky. So she jumps at first before exhaling softly. Her grip tightened around her staff and lantern. It was embarrassing to just say she was in punishment for being a bit of a saint, so instead she silently shook her head and began to walk out of the room to avoid confrontation. She hoped he wouldn’t pull off her mask and force her into revealing herself or anything insane.
