I adore space dice so the moment I saw the James Webb Telescope images I knew I had to make them into dice. This is my attempt at recreating the cosmic cliffs photo. How did I do? (Numbers yet to be painted)

This shot was taken by Hubble, showing the upper 2.5 light years of the nebula, which is 7 light years in length. This is a smaller, southern part of the much larger Christmas Tree Cluster. My sense of awe and wonder from seeing the first images from JWST is not going to wear off anytime soon! Nor will my sense of gratitude that I was able to see the telescope in the clean room at NASA Goddard. I've played my small part in this grand adventure by making JWST themed artwork, including these three imaginings of future discoveries, made last fall before the launch. With a telescope so beautifully engineered, and images of the universe that open up new worlds, it's a good space for the confluence of science and art. In November of 2016 I was, incredibly, at NASA Goddard for the JWST Artist Event, and got to see the James Webb Space Telescope under construction. My resulting quilt, Luminosity, was part of an exhibit in the Visitor's Center that next spring. The first images from the deployed telescope will be released on July 12, and I am certain they will be both beautifully and scientifically significant. I don’t know how it’s only been a week, but I’ve managed to cram a ton into it: (Last) Tuesday was travel, a seminar for #skywarnspotter training(yes I’m THAT kind of dork), and an NPU-O meeting to catch up on the neighorhood whathavs. Wednesday I semi-chilled in a hotel in the middle of nowhere Sharonville Ohio, and prepped for #horrorhoundweekend which was a fantastic, and super busy show! Met a some great people, made some portfolio-worthy fun stuff, and reunited with friends I haven’t seen in THREE YEARS! Got back to Atlanta in time to help host a #nasawebb and #jwstart VR gallery #unfoldingtheuniverse with special guest @elainestewart this all thanks to @azelinskie and @metaxustudio @nasawebb and everyone involved on the camera operator/ IT end! A huge shout out to our team here @empireartsgallery while I was gone, taking care of all the stuff I didn’t have space in my brain to think about, so all I had to do was come in and set up the lettering and touch up the walls!
