Yeah, romance isn’t its strong suit, but I did start shipping a little near the end of the season. What episode are you up to?

I pretty much spent the entire series going, “and THIS is why Batman is the man he is..and THAT..,and THIS…and ..seriously his parents thought Alfred would be a good guardian!?”

This was pretty much my exact experience. There were fun beats that I enjoyed in isolation, but the movie– the story– lacked any cohesion. So choppy, and I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had problems with the beginning.

No, the agency I refer to are proactive actions that would put her in this situation. The actions you’re talking about are reactions/responses to a threat on her life and yes, she lost. But she was targeted because of what she means to Oliver. There’s a quality of “victim” rather than “hero”. That said, with the way this whole story is going it WAS the likeliest choice. And I’m glad she does come back. I still feel it was crappy storytelling.

Yeah, I saw indications of that– but even with her ‘resurrection’, her 'death’ still qualifies as fridging in which (i) she was a female character, (ii) she had no agency in her death, and (iii) her death was solely to motivate another character. Paralleled that with Roy who was immediately revealed to be dead, and whose ‘fake death’ was a direct result of Roy’s choices.. Maybe I’ve been oversensitive to this trope since the start of this season, but this was a sloppy lazy choice.

thea fought back and got a few hits in, but there was no logical way she was going to win against ra’s. so i don’t see what other way that fight could have gone unless someone came in and stopped it. which then would have given no story for the rest of the season. if roy had died, it would have affected oliver but not enough to become the next ra’s in order to save him.

Yet another female character fridged and another male character given a miraculous pass (with bonus heroic agency). All in one episode. Sorry, Bri, I think my bitterness is breaking through the numbness.
