     "      𝓲  𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀  𝔂𝓸𝓾  𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓴  𝓶𝔂  𝓯𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵𝔂  𝓲𝓼  𝓪  𝓵𝓸𝓽,  𝓫𝓾𝓽  𝓲  𝓪𝓶  𝓼𝓸  𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓯𝓾𝓵  𝓯𝓸𝓻  𝔂𝓸𝓾  𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓰  𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱  𝓶𝓮,      "     betty  said  softly,  finishing  tying  his  tie  as  she  looked  up  at  him,  with  a  soft  look  in  her  eyes.     returning  to  riverdale  wasn’t  good  or  fun  like  it  used  to  be,  they  had  moved  away  again  after  jughead’s  murder  and  they  were  flourishing  as  a  couple  in  their  home.     but  with  the  holidays  coming  up,  they  had  to  their  part  which  included  going  back  to  riverdale  to  see  her  mom,  her  sister  and  her  kids,  plus  she  couldn’t  forget  about  seeing  veronica  and  archie.     she  knew  it  was  a  lot  for  joe  to  handle,  there  was  a  lot  of  dynamic  and  a  lot  of  emotions  around  being  here,  he  was  always  the  calm  one,  he  took  whatever  anyone  said  about  him  and  just  rolled  with  it.     betty  was  extremely  grateful  for  him,  she  wouldn’t  be  able  to  do  this  without  him.     they  had  chosen  not  to  stay  with  her  mom,  staying  in  hotel  to  allow  themselves  a  place  to  escape  to  and  allow  themselves  from  privacy.     which  was  where  they  were  getting  ready  before  going  to  the  party  her  mom  was  throwing,      “     you  know  we  should  just  tell  them  our  good  news.     at  least  telling  them  that  we  are  engaged  may  keep  the  mood  light  and  drama  free,      ”

Blue eyes found the roses. She was still deciding whether or not to put them in a proper vase or just leave them in their crinkly, pink wrapping. It bothered her to ever waste something so beautiful-- but they were from him.

    𝗶𝘁  𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁  𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱  𝘁𝗼  𝗯𝗲  𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸  𝗶𝗻  𝗻𝗲𝘄  𝘆𝗼𝗿𝗸  𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿  𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁  𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱  𝗶𝗻  𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀.   she  had  never  thought  she  would  be  the  whirlwind  romance  kind  of  person  and  yet  that  was  exactly  what  had  happened.   she  was  supposed  to  be  there  for  work  and  it  wasn't  like  her  to  end  up  with  the    𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸    kind  of  love  story.   yet  it  was  exactly  how  it  happened.   bumping  into  a  handsome  stranger,  offering  to  buy  him  a  replacement  coffee  and  then  finding  herself  spending  all  her  free  time  with  him.   it  made  her  smile  whenever  she  thought  about  him,  she  couldn't  deny  that  she  missed  him  and  whilst  they  were  still  keeping  in  touch,  text  messages  and  face  time  calls  just  weren't  the  same  as  actually  being  able  to  spend  time  with  him.   even  veronica  thought  she  had    𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁  𝗶𝘁    a  little  when  she  told  her  the  story.   but  betty  didn't  care  what  anyone  thought,  she  fallen  in  love  and  now  was  dealing  with  the  heartache  of  the    𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆    that  she  may  never  see  him  again.

    𝗵𝗼𝘄  𝘄𝗮𝘀  𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁  𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻  𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿?   that  she  could  meet  someone  that  made  her  heart  race  and  made  her  feel  excited  about  the  possibilities  of  things  again.   but  he  lived  all  the  way  in  paris.   it  wasn't  even  like  he  lived  in  a  different  state,  he  lived  in  a  whole  other  country  with  a  separate  timezone  that  made  keeping  in  contact  fairly  difficult.   betty  couldn't  believe  how  much  she    𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱   him,  despite  knowing  when  they  met  that  she  wouldn't  be  staying  longer  than  the  two  weeks  she  was  there.   he  had  really  made  an    𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁   on  her  and  she  didn't  even  have  the  words  to  describe  how  she  was  feeling.   oh  she  had  it  bad  and  now  she  was  going  to  deal  with  trying  to  get  over  someone  that  she  may  never  really  see  again.

    𝘀𝗵𝗲  𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻  𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱  𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴  𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲  𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆  𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁,   it  was  just  the  idea  of  being  alone  in  her  apartment  that  made  her  feel  a  little  sad.   she  would  just  come  home,  make  something  for  dinner,  sit  alone  in  her  apartment,  maybe  facetime  him  if  the  timings  allowed  it  and  then  go  to  bed.   that  was  it.   she  just  didn't  like  to  do  it,  so  she  couldn't  help  but  go  for  walks  after  getting  off  the  subway  before  heading  home.   just  walking  around  the  neighbourhood, listening  to  music  from  a  playlist  that  he  had  made  for  her  and  she  just  remembered  the  times  in  paris.   except  for  today,  she  was  confused  by  a  text  message  she  had  gotten  saying    i  know  you  were  feeling  down,  so  i'm  bringing  you  some  flowers.   she  figured  he  meant  that  he  had  sent  some  flowers  that  her  neighbour  had  probably  stolen  by  now.   there  was  no  way  he  was  actually  here.   was  there?   she  refused  to  allow  herself  to  get  her  hopes  up  like  that.   there  was  no  way  that  he  had  travelled  across  the  world  just  to  bring  her  flowers.   could  there?   maybe  she  would  just  head  home  and  see  what  was  really  going  on.

    "    𝔂𝓸𝓾'𝓻𝓮  𝓻𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽.    𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽  𝓲𝓼𝓷'𝓽  𝓯𝓪𝓲𝓻,    "    she  admits  softly,  not  looking  at  him  as  she  speaks  because  it  wasn't  often  that  they  fought,  but  she  just  got  this    𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓼𝓮    that  this  conversation  was  not  about  to  go  well.    why  did  she  almost  feel  guilty  for  having  more  than  just  him?    was  she  not  allowed  to  have  her  friends  and  her  family?    was  she  not  allowed  to  do    𝓪𝓷𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰    that  she  likes  to  do  without  him?    she  was  absolutely  in  love  with  joe,  she  would  do  anything  for  him  and  the  time  they  spent  together  meant  a  lot  to  her.    but  she  also  needed  her  time  for  herself.    like  she  didn't  need  to  be  tinkering  around  with  her  old  car  with  him  hovering  over  her  shoulder,  she  could  handle  it,  she  knew  what  she  was  doing  and  if  she  needed  his  help,  she'd  ask.    she  also  needed  time  to  spend  with  her  friends  without  him,  not  that  they  were  talking  about  him  like  he    𝓪𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼    assumed  they  were  doing.    she  loves  joe,  but  his  insecurities  is  what  he  needed  to  work  through  and  he  had  to  allow  her  to  have  her  time  without  him.

     𝓱𝓮  𝓪𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼  𝔀𝓪𝓼  𝓼𝓸  𝓼𝔀𝓮𝓮𝓽  𝓪𝓷𝓭  𝓪𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼  𝓼𝓪𝓲𝓭  𝓽𝓱𝓮  𝓻𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽  𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰  𝓽𝓸  𝓶𝓪𝓴𝓮  𝓱𝓮𝓻  𝓼𝓶𝓲𝓵𝓮,     betty  couldn’t  see  why  veronica  didn’t  see  him  as  the  good  guy  that  she  knew  he  was.     no  one  had  made  her  happier  than  joe  ever  did,  he  was  the  one  person  that  she  could  share  everything  with,  that  she  didn’t  have  to  hold  anything  back  and  just  be  herself.     it  was  obvious  to  her  how  much  joe  loved  her.     why  couldn’t  veronica  and  her  friends  see  that  themselves?     betty  didn’t  want  to  argue  with  her  friends  about  the  person  she  loves,  especially  when  she  felt  like  she  was  truly  happy.     her  mom  approved  of  joe,  why  couldn’t  her  friends?     if  ice  queen  alice  cooper  could  see  the  good  in  joe,  why  couldn’t  her  friends?     she  had  to  just  be  patient  and  let  them  see  how  happy  she  was  because  she  really  was  happy.     he  made  her  feel  loved  and  happy,  he  encouraged  her  and  never  held  her  back,  he  was  supportive  and  emotional  with  her.     joe  was  everything  to  her  without  being  completely  smothering.     she  was  excited  to  go  home  and  see  him,  to  spend  time  with  him  and  make  a  life  with.     she  just  wanted  her  friends  to  see  what  she  sees  and  be  happy  for  her.

     𝐈𝐓  𝐖𝐀𝐒  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑  𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓  𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐀𝐒  𝐈𝐍  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑  𝐍𝐄𝐖  𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄.     moving  out  of  riverdale  had  been  her  idea,  especially  after  everything  that  had  happened  with  jughead,  she  couldn’t  imagine  staying  there  after  that.     it  was  time  for  a  fresh  start  for  her  and  joe,  a  completely  new  place  and  a  new  town,  a  place  to  make  new  memories  and  somewhere  that  actually  felt  safe.     which  of  course  meant  she  wasn’t  going  to  hold  back  for  christmas.     they  so  much  space  and  she  wanted  to  try  to  make  this  holiday  time  special,  especially  after  such  a  few  terrible  months.     it  was  her  way  of  saying  thank  you  to  joe  for  being  so  supportive  considering  that  she  had  been  an  absolute  state  after  losing  her  best  friend  like  that,  he  had  been  so  supportive  dealing  with  her  mood  swings  and  her  tornado  of  decisions  that  led  them  to  where  they  were  now.
