Romance is good. I like it when two characters are open about their kinks and infulge in them.
Plot device is definetly like... anything that makes the characters lives easier or more effortless, bonus points if it removes physical tasks.
For example hover chairs or wish fufilling apps, or maybe even vr or video games.
Especially when the character is initially wary of the plot device. They see it as an easy way out. Only to slowly succumb to it. Later when they need to do the physical task that the plot device took away from them. Like walking or something. They have to contend with how much weaker they have become. Wheezing and sputtering as they make their way across the room with their own two feet.
That kinda thing.
