Alex has a heart, kind of. He has lungs, sort of. When he's cut, he bleeds. Sure, it carries a tiny electric charge, enough to slap on a warning. But isn't it overkill to hire a private jet, a bodyguard escort, and a licensed xenobiologist just to bombard him with questions, scold him for smoking, and complain that he's overweight? It's a big annual waste of money and he has no choice but to play along. At least he's the one getting paid.
In fact, he's being so nice, he's sober today. He's wearing the same tank top and shorts from last night. Where he's sitting now, it seems like the effort is mutual. It looks like a bunch of hospital paraphernalia and cheap white cabinets got shoved into some nerd's office. There's a dark stain on the blue carpet which he hopes to god is coffee.
The coffee stain feels like a godsend. Unfocusing his eyes on it feels like the one thing keeping him alive, as his killer migraine rages beneath his exoskeleton. He presses a paw to his armatural facies, facial shield, and squeezes his eyes shut.
He should plaster on a smile, figure out his script before the brand new doc walks in. But his pseudo-pixels doesn't seem to be cooperating well enough on his bioluminescent anterior facial-whatever. If he put on a robotic voice and said he's in-ca-pa-ble, would it be funny at least?
There's the knock at the door. Alex nearly jumps out of his fur, "Come in!" His tail scrunches against the exam paper a few times, sheer determination.
Think of all the trees that died. Think of the keystrokes wasted. Seventy in-person interviews locked in a government archive, ages 5-34. If she wants to know anything, there's mountains of literature. The classics are all there and it's not like he's getting any smarter.

“Ha ha ha ha! I thought I was gonna die.” (Mirian to Pink?)
"It's not funny!" Pink Four insisted, still holding onto Mirian with the type of care one gets used to putting when one has fingers tipped with metal claws.
"You really-- really could have died!"
The android only let go once she had made sure that the human was a safer distance away from the prehensile tendrils of a plant that was likely of unnatural origins. A handful of those modified leaves had been shredded thanks to the pink ranger herself and they now floated motionless on the surface of the water. The rest peeked out from the water, seemingly just wrapping around and pulling down anything that moved.
They know the way. The mews are narrow and the turns are dizzying and they’ve never actually been off the main street before, and even there they’ve never traveled alone, but they know the way. In theory.
There must be a bakery nearby. The smell of bread twists their empty stomach. But they have more important things to be thinking about. They press past, still following the path they know in theory. They’d had the scullery maid tell it to them three times. Is this the place? Is this? There. The sign. That door.
Lip stumbles to the doorstep and hammers on the door. The sun’s practically fully risen by now; surely the physician must be up.
When the door opens, they don’t look the opener in the face. They keep their head tilted low, hood pulled forward to hide all they can. Hidden the famous dark hair, escaping wildly from its ribbon. Hidden the famous starry eyes, ringed by exhaustion. Hidden even is the grace with which they walk, though that isn’t strictly on purpose.
“Physician,” they say, and their voice cracks. “I need a physician. Are you-?”

There were times Robin was thankful he had befriended a couple people in his classes. The little reminders of normal people problems, and everyday life things, was good. It helped keep him centered if nothing else. So receiving that text from Gerou while he was taking a pause from patrolling was a nice surprise. If nothing else, it did give him a good laugh. The mental image was good.
[txt - Gerou] Dude.
[txt - Gerou] Your grandma is officially life goals.
There were a few things Masha knew for certain about the Forest on the edge of the village. Things that came from having grown up playing in and among the trees. And one of those things was that there had certainly not been a statue here before. ‘Here’ of course being tucked fairly far back in the woods, farther than many of the others would go.
Another thing that was interesting about it, was that it was apparently alive. Some how. It was definitely made of stone as well, she had figured that out when she had carefully reached out to brush her fingers against it. Which made her all the more curious about what what could be going on. So for the time being she had settled herself down, facing the living stone, and her cane placed carefully across her lap. Keeping herself occupied by humming little songs to herself as she waited for it to do something.

Kelvin paced along the shore. The same shore that he'd been told the person he'd been searching for sometimes frequented. He wanted to believe he's been making progress but he couldn't really be sure at all. He should be getting back to asking around (which sucked for him since he hated approaching people at all).
And that begrudging attitude was evident in how he approached the next stranger he came across.
"Excuse me." He's already taking out a photo of the person he was looking for - a bespectacled Asian woman in her mid-twenties. "Have you seen this person around?"
❝You can ask me anything you want. I promise I'll answer truthfully. Except the things I feel like lying about.❞ Mirian is joking. Mirian is... PROBABLY joking. She's grinning, at any rate. (Probably to Pink, but if someone else strikes your fancy then go for it!)
"Ehhhh?-" Pink Four propped her head in one hand, her elbow resting on the table between her and Mirian. "Then how would I know -- if you are telling the truth- or not?"
But then again, the AI thought, would someone who planned on being untruthful bring up the possibility that they might be lying right off the bat? Maybe it should start with a question that if answered with a lie would raise some suspicious flags about the human that the pink ranger was trying to get to know.
"I will ask then-- what do you do - for a living?"
I see. I have not had any need to send mail for some time. I am currently unemployed, in a manner of speaking. ]
While they were in no way idle, even describing themself as 'self-employed' felt like it might be a stretch. Being a free-floating ship with hopes and dreams wasn't exactly employment - as tiring as it could be considering their dreams of heroism.
[ It is good to meet you as well, Dell. I hope we can get to know each other as well.]
The AI paused. What else was there to say? Did they there reveal information, as scant as they were willing to reveal, just to have something to say? But if they didn't say anything more, it would be a little pointless, no?
[ It does get lonely out here especially since I am usually by myself.
