In the old days we didn't have these fancy easy-shape, pre-lit LED, artificial Christmas trees. We went to the K-Mart and they gave you a box the size of a Datsun and in the box were about 50 tree branches made out of giant pipe cleaners and a wooden stick with holes drilled in it, and you rode home in the back seat of your parents sedan with that 500lb box crushing your legs. When you got home you unpacked the pipe cleaners and each of them had a color on the end and you grouped them by color, then, one at a time, you shoved them into the holes in the giant wooden stick. Then once you had your pipe cleaner tree assembled 4 hours later you spent about 2 hours trying to get piping hot C-9 light strands around that fake tree without burning your fingertips off.
