Who is someone that you share the most fandoms with?

Here’s my Day 2 answer for June Something! Check out this post for all of the questions (joooooin meeeee) or read yesterday’s answer here.

Day 2: You've got your OTP, you have to throw a third into the mix (from the same fandom), creating an OT3. Who is the OTP, and in your opinion, why would they make a perfect third for them?  Bonus question: What about adding a third to your OTP from a different fandom?  Who and why?

So, the instructions for this challenge say that if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t have an OTP, you can answer the OTP questions with a romantic pairing already in the fandom that’s canon (and obviously I don’t think it has to be canon, but basically, you can use any pairing), so I’m going to use Vikady (Violet Liu/Arkady Patel from The Strange Case of Starship Iris) for my OTP in this post.

The OT3 question is incredibly easy to answer because that would be Sana and honestly, ever since I first wrote them as a three I’ve found it harder to not write them, because Sana and Arkady absolutely have shippy vibes and Vikady are a canon couple and it’s really not that hard at all to close the triangle with Sana/Violet. (Even the canon ships it! IT IS CANONICALLY BOTH SANA AND VIOLET’S JOB TO SIT ON ARKADY). They have such complementary personalities with each one bringing something different to the threesome and I desperately want them all to just softly take care of each other. (And before you say it, Campbell can come too! I find it pretty easy to headcanon Sana/Campbell in an open relationship while she is also with Violet and Arkady. I think he’d be chill with it! SUPPORTIVE POLY DYNAMICS FTW).

If I were to go a bit more out there with the OT3 choice (though honestly not that out there, but I don’t think anyone’s done this one yet) I would say that Brian/Krejjh/RJ would make a really adorable three. Imagine them bonding over late-night Sh’th Hremreh sessions, and then RJ’s panic as they realise they might REALLY LIKE Brian and Krejjh! Imagine them bursting into Park’s room at 1 o’clock in the morning for advice! I headcanon RJ as aro, but I could totally see this being a greyromantic thing where they’ve never HAD romantic feelings for anyone before and didn’t think they ever would and THEN SUDDENLY… WHAT IS HAPPENING. Or it could be queerplatonic on RJ’s end! I love QPRs.

What's a new fandom that you've fallen into since the last June Something/in the last year?

What's changed about your fandom life in the last 365 days?

What would make you leave a fandom, or prevent you from getting into it in the first place?

Okay so I was hesitant to do this one. But I think I will.

When I look to join a new fandom, generally I check for rep across the board, try to make sure the people who make the media aren't shitty humans, and that it's an enjoyable story with topics I can handle. Horrible fan bases aren't a hard-no for me cause then I just won't interact with the fan base, nor are small fandoms, I'm chill with those. Really big fandoms like marvel of any CW shows, especially with the political track record in those who produce it, mean it isn't my cup of tea, but I might watch if I had a few day/weeks to kill.

As for leaving fandoms, that depends. Technically I left the tma fandom after the show got to a point where I said to myself "okay this is as heavy as it can get before it negatively impacts me, but I had a good ride." and I put it down. But the controversy-of-the-week thing the fandom had going was also a motivating factor. And I don't mean valid critiques like the stuff with Jude, but rather the bit in season 5 where people started getting made at the show for general content every single new episode. I didn't have the energy to keep up with every poster demanding I talk about it.

TMA is the only fandom I've truly left? I've taken a break from TPP to binge some smaller podcasts but I still love it and interact with the fandom on occasion. Though, now I find myself generally producing less content for the fandoms I do consider myself active in, just cause people can be so fucking rude about it. Like this has been an ongoing issue across a few fandoms for a few months to where it started to feel like some folks just interacted with the stuff I make to scoff, give backhanded compliments, and insist they could do better. It was fine for a while but i started to drea making thing. And yeah, this was a minority of fans but a loud one, and in small fandoms that makes a big difference.

I prided myself on generating a lots and varied content for fandom who wouldn't be getting much otherwise, and I even ran that TSCOSI minibang so tht if people didn't like MY style of work, there would be more from other creators. But some people just suck. So casual reminder if you can't engage with fancontent responsibly, the choice will be taken away from you.
