Reasons:

The other ribbons so far are pink, white and blue, that's literally how they're described

all of those have strong associations with Ralsei, in part due to the game putting them on her (check a fresh ch2 save for that) and in part due to the very elaborate reactions she has towards them (the Blue Ribbon has SIXTEEN UNIQUE PIECES of equip text)

On that last note, the Twin Ribbon's description states "you'll have to tie your hair in pigtails", and Ralsei's reaction to it is "try around my horns!"

Onto the Princess Ribbon itself, we still don't know about a single PRINCESS in utdr. The closest there is is Mettaton in that one sce- wait fuck

Ralsei's equip text for the item is "Cute! (Gloves don't fit)". She wears something that is definitely a symbol of femininity, while saying it doesn't fully fit her.

Ralsei is implied to be amorphous. She turns into a pile of fluff, her face changes when she takes off her hat, and she can fit in a whole horse costume by herself

If Ralsei can change shape, why wouldn't she be able to put on the gloves????

I'm not saying Ralsei is definitely transfem because of a few ribbons, I'm just saying she's repeatedly being shown to embrace symbols of femininity even if they don't fully fit her. The supposed Prince of the Dark, as foretold by fate itself, puts on literal princess's clothing even when it doesn't fully fit her.

this is about your cbc creative writing submission but i figured i’d send u an ask since i had some questions which are a bit unrelated to the challenge itself— specifically about theo’s curse/disability, as a disabled person myself (though i am also white, so that certainly impacts things as well). specifically i wanted to ask what the day-to-day ramifications of his disability are?

your story seems really interesting and well thought out, and i dont want to assume anything, so i will hold off on any actual critique beyond that specific question for now, but i do want to make it clear that this isnt me saying your story is bad or anything of the sort— your summary just makes it seem a little bit like your story may fall into some unfortunate tropes in regards to writing disabled characters, but thats going off of very minimal information so i could be very off-base :P looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi!!! I think I know what you're referring to, but just in case I missed something, here's a rundown:

The "Gaia clan curse", as I've been calling it, is a degenerative condition that overloads the body with raw magical energy, which would normally be entirely contained inside the soul. This makes people with said curse very easily able to wield magic, but also has the following effects:

Progressive deterioration of eyesight

Chronic pain

Lightning streak-like glowing markings across the body

Loss of movement and feeling on the limbs

Cardiovascular issues, and a propensity for heart attacks and strokes

Everyone with the curse has died in their early 20s due to the heart problems, but there's been a steady increase in lifespan as they continuously pass down little bits of knowledge to each generation; Theo himself is around 24 years old, due to a mix of heavy research into magic and the bits of knowledge he had access to. As the story progresses, his symptoms get worse: at the start he masks all of them very well, but as it goes on his pain becomes more apparent, he's unable to walk oftentimes and he loses all eyesight on one of his eyes.

Very importantly, lifting the curse does not reverse ANY of it. It simply stops it from doing any more damage. Theo will still be an ambulatory wheelchair user, will still be fully blind in one eye, and will still have chronic pain, the only differences are that he'll be alive and that he won't be able to use magic.

C&A stands for Cain and Abel wherein the supposed "Abel" was a more advanced AI that did Caine's job better than him; he reused the name in e7 to throw the players off just like what he did w C&A itself

(Side note there's a clothing store called C&A here in Brasil so this whole thing is just super amusing to me)

There have been pokemon based on Brasil since Gold and Silver, which released in 1999. Specifically, Hitmontop, is named "Kapoerer" in Japanese (referencing capoeira, a martial art developed by black communities during their enslavement in Brasil and Angola) and is shown performing a basic capoeira movement in its 3d model's animation. Not only was this removed from certain translations, such as English and Spanish, this was also the ONLY KIND of representation any sort of black culture had in Pokémon for TEN YEARS, when Black and White released, and with it, black characters like Lenora and Marshal.

But the story doesn't stop there for Brasil! We still didn't have any way to play these games in our mother tongue! Which didn't mean they'd stop using our culture for inspiration, of course. Whimsicott from Black and White is partially based on the Saci from Brazilian folklore, and Quaquaval from Scarlet and Violet is blatantly based on Brazilian samba. Hell, on the topic of Scarlet and Violet, why not add the PTBR translation then???? The region us based on the Iberian peninsula, which includes Spain and Portugal, so it would have been a perfectly thematic moment to include this language! It was 2022! It couldn't have been THAT hard!

But no. The Pokémon Company International, responsible for the biggest IP in the planet, waited for 30 years to actually include us in their main product. They'd use our culture as inspiration, as fuel for their marketing, but refuse to sell us their products.
