306 Yonge just closed its doors for the last time....To say I’m feeling a type of way would be an understatement. I was just breaking it down earlier....having been a fan since a toddler, watching and admiring the man and his skills....to finally owning a piece of product....to getting the Jumpman tatted on my chest at 16....to never thinking there would ever even BE a Jordan Store....then to have one of them be In TORONTO and open the same year I moved here.....to being put in a position working for the company who ran its retail ops.....and fast forward to me being a manager? Fucking unreal if you ask me. This was a literal dream come true. I don’t know how many other people can truly admit that (maybe @jfromtime) but this was the most I had ever felt like a kid, since being that kid I just spoke about. Peace and Love to 306 Yonge, you were a special place in time and will forever be a part of my heart. I was forced to leave (by choice) my job today but my genuine feeling is shown here. These old guys in these old corporations move so wishy washy and the disconnection to their demographic (and employees) is so apparent. Stay true to you and your passions and your people. Not your bank account. Don’t let them make you jaded. Here’s to great employees, properly managing people and empowering and investing in them and also allowing those who clearly thrive, to thrive.
