One of the things that gets me is that Julian calls Ælwen tenacious when he bring him back to the serious questions he asked when Julian defects them and try to change the subject. With his flair for the dramatic and his poor perception of himself, he fails to see the reason why this person is so “tenacious”. Ælwen want truthful answers, true answers from the heart. He doesn’t want to belittle Julian’s emotions of embarassement but he also has no interest in intertaining self depricating behaviors. He wants  to help to the best of his abilities because he cares. He’s interested in Julian’s wellbeing and want to help him get better with how he see’s himself.  Julian isn’t blind, the boy know he’s got issues. It’s really refreshing that after the Dock talks, he’s trying his best to be more honest, more vulnerable, more open about how he feels. He want’s to better himself because he has a reason to. and he knows that reason isn’t there to force him to be better but to encourage him and to be there in time of need. It gets me, everytime.
