Fun facts about Scandinavian myths/fairy tale/Sagor about christmas.
Back in the day people belived that an little invisible helper could be very cranky during december and to prevent pranks and misshappenings they gave the little helper porridge with butter on top every evening until Christmas.
There is a story that a helper got their porridge (without butter) and the helper killed the farmcow only to find out that the butter had melted down to the bottom of the porridge bowl and the helper had to get a new farmcow to the farmer.
Fun little side note is that Iceland has a similar myth but its about 13 nights and 13 mischievous little pranksters
