I was thinking whether there r different accents in the Gnommish language. At the very least, what would be the difference between the Gnommish spoken in Atlantis and that spoken in Haven, and could the inhabitants of the Lower Elements tell where a fairy came from simply by their accent, as is the case with English, for example.
And this led me to think that Artemis learnt the language from a very ancient book – not to mention the fact that he didn’t know how the language actually sounded, but he could make a guess based on linguistics. But even so, it’s a VERY ancient book, one that literally defines the rules governing the fairy world. And it’s written in some ancient dialect of Gnommish – I mean, seriously, how often do they update ancient texts? The last update of this text was that they changed a spiral writing to a horizontal one
And just imagine that in the first book, Holly, Root, Foaly and the rest hear this: "Artemis Fowl II am I, who gold doth seek" coming from a 12 yo child – I think that’s absolutely hilarious.
And part of the time they spend travelling to the surface in the shuttle in the second book, Holly and Root try to teach him to NOT speak like a dinosaur. But the best they manage is to teach him to sound like Julius’s grandad
Btw, I haven't read the books in English, so maybe there is that kind of information... If there is something about it, I'll be glad to learn about it 🐱

4- are they better in concept than in execution
hmmmm welllllll. If we say the execution is how they actually acted in the books, the scenes we did get- well, then the execution is AMAZIN.
But the concept of them- their history, what they do off-screen (off-page?), that's also AMAZIN (but also best left not actually executed and just implied(?) (cause if Colfer did try that it would have likely been ooc and not fit the dynamic we saw.))
Am I even understanding the question? Idk😭 but overall I'm gonna say execution because that's the one that actually exists, fr fr 100% undeniable and all that

But I think they do have their more serious moments where the circumstances call for showing more empathy and understanding etc etc. Not that they're very comfortable with it
I don't, however, see them ever going full lovey-dovey given their characters, circumstances, rank and setting (there's more I could say about that but that's for another day)
