So I've been reading your posts on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest as I read the book and you're so spot on about so many things. I was just curious (if they hadn't butchered the character and had given him things like the red hair and the scar of course) if you think Jack Nicholson was a good choice for the role, or if you still would have chosen someone different.
I've been pretty anti-Jack in some of my metas [or not exactly him, but just the treatment he was given as the STARRRRRRRR & the focus of the story, which is so contrary to the novel], but... I'm sorta neutral-sorta in favor of it / him now. He definitely has the charisma & the voice for McMurphy... he just needed better direction... & some hair dye.
I feel that... maybe... he could've done it justice. He's an incredible actor but... you can only do so much by yourself. & I still don't know how much prior knowledge he had about the work & how much input he had with Forman & his staff.
Just... we could've had it so much better & it so obviously wasn't & it's damn insulting.
