got into a friend’s tesla and was suppose to drive one for the first time and then like jeffree star is next to me sitting in the passenger’s side and i’m like... where’s no steering wheel?? and he’s like no just press the pedal. and i did and we were driving and we kept slowing down and he showed me this little remote on the right side that had two buttons to slow down and speed up and I legit just had to sit in the driver’s seat and press the buttons for the speed in the tesla. and as i was driving i rememeber being like... hmm, maybe i don’t HATE teslas now. 

Hi! I don’t like that racist past either, and honestly I was struggling to watch his videos without that one specific clip of him on the street saying that slur rattling around in my head. 

But, when I watched the whole thing, and listened to how he explained it to Shane in that video, I understood what caused it. I didn’t excuse what happened, but explainations are different than excuses. He could have chose not to say what he said, but he did. That was an action he chose to do. I don’t believe in bad people, only bad actions (and sometimes, all they make are bad actions).Not that it’s an excuse at fucking all. And as a white person, it’s not my authority to forgive him.

I remember him from 2005. I knew him from the myspace days and he was so intense and angry back then and to see how he is now it’s just like – night and day I want to say?

And I know there were a few other instances around that time as well with that ‘prank phone call’ and I think there was another video but they were all around the same time, and it was all part of this edgy, angry, very angry, scene kid culture where white people thought they could get away with anything while being ‘unique’. It’s hard to describe. But scene kid culture, if you got into this bad strain of it, was truly awful. Blended with emo culture, you had kids idealizing suicide and other mental illnesses, drugs, and harming themselves all while trying to be the most offensive as possible so they could anger people and then fuel their own anger more. It was a very strange, and horrible, time on the internet. Do I think he’s still got issues? Of course. Will his past ever go away? Hell no. But it keeps him in check now, and he’s surrounding himself with better friends. I never believe someone is a bad person, just makes bad actions. Some of those bad actions have a pathology that I think is important to include when it comes to all this. I don’t think he hates people of color, but again, I’m a white girl so I really have no say in the matter.
