‘What have you discovered in the community?’

People have found friends, games, stories, safespaces, even other content creators through Sean and the community. What did you find?

So if you haven't seen, @turquoisemagpie has come up with a great idea of some positivity posts to lift up the community, with some suggestions from our group chat too

I have found so much

I've found inspiration to not just draw, but to continue and improve

I've found writers who's work I get excited about, artists who's work makes me smile and edits who's work captures moments perfectly

I've found games I have fallen in love with, other YouTubers/streamers who's content I adore and from those two, even more communities and people I can connect with

But the most important thing here is I've found friend

I've found people who have supported me when I needed it, made me smile so many times and inspired me to be better

I've found people I love with all my heart and talk to every day, some days or not that often but still love from afar

Some I've met in person, some I hope to meet in the near future and some I may never meet, but I care about them all so much and they've helped me become who I am

‘What have you discovered in the community?’

A 2nd family. A safe house from the stresses of the outside world. People who share loves and laughs and jokes. Creative talent that blows my mind on a daily basis. Art, animation, writing, gifs, edits, memes, cosplay, songs... You guys are such an inspiration to create for the sheer love of it.  simply for fun and in joy and celebration of those who bring us comfort.

I found people who inspire me and people to hopefully inspire. A community who build each other up and help each other through rough times.  I discovered a new language of diversity to help me understand, communicate and support my own child’s sexuality and gender identity. 

I discovered that through a simple act of making a discord for those who were going to HDWGH and TwitchCon Berlin I could create a bond of friendship for people that would long outlive those events. I discovered people who care for me, people I can share the highs and lows with.

I found a vast, international network of friends with a common interest: A loud, Irish YouTuber with a huge heart and a vast EQ.

It seems fitting with Anti's birthday just around the corner - I first found Jack's channel through Dark vs Anti. I watched a bunch of Anti videos (out of order since I had no idea what I was doing XD) and decided to give Jack's channel a try. He really helped lift me out of a dark place I was in and gave me a friend when I felt like I didn't have any. Now I have a whole community that I adore and interact with every day. 😊💚

What have you discovered in the community?

I’ve discovered family. I have a small close-knit group of people. We’ve basically adopted each other and we always come back to each other. Even if we go separate ways, we always come back to each other.

I’ve discovered storytellers. I’ve found this in many fandoms, but at the same time I haven’t seen it like this. People tell stories in different ways with different worlds. I’ve seen stories told with artwork, with comics, with games, and by the written/typed word. And each and every story I’ve seen and read is BEAUTIFUL. It doesn’t matter the style it’s done, it’s honestly a gift.

I’ve discovered creativity. Because of the community, I’ve been able to find my writing again. I’ve been starting to draw again. I’ve been trying to figure out various cosplays and I’ve wanted to get back into video editing again.

I’ve (re)discovered humanity. I know I’ve talked about how drama has been tearing us apart recently. I’ve also mentioned how I’ve been in some dark moods recently, and that’s on me. But always always always... I see who we are and what we have done for the world. I see how we lift each other up when we’re down. I see what we do every single month when Sean has streamed for charity - I mean seriously, do I even have to mention the $230k we raised in 4 1/2 hours this past month? During the one month he couldn’t stream recently, he selected two charities - the actual charity and then the one for the rain forests (I donated to both). Not to mention PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY STREAMED FOR HIM FOR TWO DAYS! If that isn’t people helping people and the world, I don’t know what is.

I’ve discovered and rediscovered Sean - and I’ll continue rediscovering him. Yeah, this sounds strange and bad and just out right squicky, but hear me out. When I discovered Sean back in 2015 it was literally through the G-Mod maps with Mark. I started watching him more and discovered how awesome he was and everything. And as I’ve stayed with watching him, I’ve seen him grow watched others grow with him. As we all know 2017 was a rough year - an extremely rough year. But because of 2017, we watched him change and grow and blossom as a gamer, as a youtuber... As a person. Because of that, I realized that the community changed, too. Every time he changes, there are changes as a whole, but it’s when the realizations of “This is still Sean. This is him growing.” hit that I see what most of the community sees again and again. That Sean has been and always will Sean and that each change is just a new growth in that ever growing McLoughlin tree. He has such an amazing heart and a wonderful humbleness that he really, truly is the one youtuber I will continue to follow.

‘What have you discovered in the community?’

I have found a place where I feel like I found a place that I can belong, a place where I can just switch off from the outside world for a bit, I have found so many amazing people here within the community and people I can call friends even though I haven't met any of you yet (Hopefully that will change), you guys give me a reason to smile when I feeling down

I also have found so many amazing artists that are so talented and have inspired me to improve my own art, you guys have given me so much confidence and inspiration to create things

First of all: I found Seán. I found him on one of the days when my anxiety's only there to kill me, and to calm myself down I randomly [by the purest accident you can possibly imagine] clicked on one of his 'Papers, Please' videos. An hour later I caught myself laughing my heart out, my anxiety all kicked away. I decided I'm not going anywhere in a billion years, and a thought that I could easily just NOT BE HERE is really scary now.

I found a bunch of the purest souls who gave me all their love, encouragement and kindness as soon as I decided to finally step forward and let myself be known. They're like a second family, and that's how I've been calling our community. To mention a few of them: @septicwhovian97 @life-is-paradoxical @malicious-gamer @regalchaosiplier @septichearteyes @septicjpeg @bates-k12 @angelicsepticeye @holsepticeye I'll never forget everything you gave me since I first spoke in the family, and you'll always have the warmest place inside my heart.

I came for the games, the fun, the inspiring messages and the community fires. I found so new games to try after discovering the channel and got into drawing again from ideas I got from the videos. I laugh and smile while watching Sean’s videos
