The book starts off with the POV of charlie, hiding from an animatronic. There isn't any context for this scene, making it a mysterious and enticing first impression of the novel.

Then we're introduced to the protagonist, Charlie, alongside the setting, the missing children incidents, and the supporting characters. Charlie's friends are nicely used to show the scale of how the dissappearence of their friend, Michael (not afton), in my opinion. The fact that all of them moved cities except for Carlton, who only stayed because of his father being the idk head police guy of the place.

I almost forgot, before meeting her old friends, Charlie visited her old house where she lived with her father, Henry Emily. I think the best part of this book for FNAF fans (which i kind of am) is the amount of information on Henry that we are given, though it is told through like 500 flashbacks which i honestly did not enjoy very much. Yeah he's dead so it's not like we can learn about him from himself but damn i just think that the whole Charlie digging deep into her memories thing feels so... PG13 kids with superpowers kinda plot idek. I mean it's Charlie having lots of gaps in her memories regarding her very brief childhood is probably due to PTSD yeah it's understandable, but at some points it really reminds me that this is a kids book.

After visiting her old house, which paints Henry to be a lot like the neighbour from hello neighbour, Charlie visits her friends at the diner, they have an awkward catching up chat, talked about Michael and shit, which lead to them visiting the old Freddy's location. Except the location was now a huge mall. That didn't stop them of course. They sneak in, almost get caught by the guard (DAVE), find a way in to the restaurant hidden behind some walls, and boom they make it in.

The visit was cut short because they gotta go to their old school to do some ceremony shit. I was kinda really hoping that Michael was Afton when Michael's parents went up the stage but that was just a silly wish of mine. Carlton gave a nice speech. That's something i enjoy about this book, it has it's sincere moments I'd like to think. FNAF is known for it's animatronics and memes and this and that (idk how else to word it) you know, it's essentially a game about trying to not die from animatronics. But sometimes you think about the story of all those kids killed and stuffed into the suits of their favourite mascots, that these kids trusted and loved, the fact that the mystery was never solved for decades and the parents who never got closure on there kids' disappearance and also the fact that the killer is one of the owners of the fucking restaurant, and you remember how horrifying this story is.

Anyways, the gang return to Freddy's, with Dave the guard because he caught them. I like the descriptions of Dave lmao. Charlie started assuming he was a huge greasy loser which is amazing. Thennn they play around with the buttons and brought the lights and animatronics to life. Not long after, shit goes wrong. They run. Carlton gets left behind, caught by Dave.

The gang stays in Carlton's family's house. We learn about Carlton's weird tendencies to do elaborate lies and jokes which was interesting to me cos wtf. I wonder if it's in any way relevant to the Michael shit. After a night, thanks to Carlton's mom, they realized Carlton was in deep shit i think and also Jason was missing. They return to Freddy's Struggle to enter

Oh yeah There was a scene of Dave Putting Carlton in a springlock suit. That was awesome. THIS IS WHAT I'M HERE FOR BRO. NOT TEENAGE ROMANCE FFUUUCK (CHARLIE/JOHN). Yeah I Like that scene with Carlton and Dave and also Dunn. Dunn's death was nice and sweet.

Yeah they come to rescue and honestly im kind of tired of writing this uh retelling of the story but basically this is where it gets pretty fun AKA there is actual danger going on instead of brooding teenagers messing around and having emotions.

Then llalala running around from dangers animTronics, Theres Michael and theres Dave and they do shit, Dave says weird things. Carlton's dad looks at some old papers, figures out DAVE=WILLIAM AFTON=KIDS IN DANGER pretty late.

Dad helps gang escape pizzeria, but Dave strangles Charlie, Charlie punches Dave, sets springlocks off, everyone watches him die lmao. They leave.

Despite my complaints for all of the non FNAF at freddys content (AKA normal teenage stuff(, i did enjoy the epilogue. It was a nice note to end the book on. Goodbyes are difficult. And Charlie managed to go through her own personal hell and come out alive.

NOW i wanna talk about that prologue... It was cool to reach that part of the story during the final act, now knowing the full context of the scene. It felt satisfying to read is all but now im thinking about how it could've been used to show like, a scene of one of the kids running away from spring bonnie... IDK i just think that wouldve been a cool scene to have. A scene without much context other than being a glimpse of one of William's horrid acts.

I dislike the huge cast I'm Not Gonna Lie. Jessica kinda barely did shit😭 Lamar too. I'm pretty sure Jessica will have a bigger role in the other novels but yeah she and Lamar were kinda just floating around in this one.

I traded books with them and got my hands on The Martian novel, using the added pressure of having to return it to make me finish it faster.

ITS JUST SO FUCKING GOOD!!!

The novel starts off with Watney's-actually im gonna call him Mark because we're tight like that-Mark's log, explaining his situation and how he arrived at that situation. The logs are in first person so we get to read exactly everything he thinks about or thinks to write about. Part of what makes the book so fun is Mark's personality! its gets explicitly described by the psychologist, how he's like the glue of the crew (ares 3) due to this ability to diffuse tension during...tense moments and get along with practically everyone. That aside, he's also very determined and a skilled problem solver (as all astronauts should be). Having Mark have such an outgoing personality, cracking jokes even when he had no idea how to get back to earth or talk to anyone, the logs become very entertaining to read.

After a while, one of the chapters start off in third person, this was now from the POV of the people on earth. I find the earth sections to be way easier to read as they included way less martian technobabble and instead had character dialogues and their interactions. I think Andy Weir did a really good job at characterizing all of the different characters on earth. Despite there being quite a few of them, i had an easy time seeing all of their different personalities and how Beth had a significant character development, becoming way more confident as the book reached its ending.

CHARACTERS

Mark Watney: Man. It is truly an honor to be able to read his logs. Ofcourse as i have mentioned at the start, Mark is really fun to read because despite his damn hopeless situation, he keeps cracking jokes and solving problems by doing whatever to some machinery that needs to be tinkered with. But that does not mean that he's always a cheerful guy in his logs. At some points in the story, he feels very lonely, he feels like he's not gonna make it. He's also somebody that cares perhaps a bit too much for his crewmates that he dismisses his own needs. This side of him doesn't show up explicitly too often but once you've seen it, you may realize that it's always been there, and that a lot of his goofy talk in his log is to keep himself sane.

I don't know what else to say really cause all i wanna say about the other characters is that they all have a unique trait about them. Their own ways of talking, their own motivations, their own way of thinking. Awesome stuff.

WRITING

Most of what i wanna say about the writing i already wrote down in the start... Andy Weir knows how to mix in both very accurate astronomy and space flight stuff with very engaging characters and story. It was just genuinely so, so fun to read. I can't wait for Project Hail Mary.

This will be the beginning of my super late reviews AKA i kept putting off my review for the movie or book or whatever and so im kind of like an unreliable narrator here except instead of narrating i am reviewing.

A local animated movie that isn't entirely for kids! How i fucking cheered when i first heard the news. I first saw the poster art and then i saw the teaser trailer thing where the animation looked absolutely sick so ofc i was hooked. I'm also a sucker for the design because i like cool things.

STORY

It was actually engaging for me despite me not understanding a few things (possibly because i'm not entirely used to watching Indonesian films). Just like the whole story of the MC its your usual main character looking for revenge story, what makes it interesting is the fact that its indonesian and has some indonesian shit for the world n stuff (though its still very heavily inspired by avatar i think). I enjoyed the not so black and white use of black and white magic.

CHARACTER WRITING

This is where i felt the most unsatisfied.

Panji: he's not too bad, just a pretty typical main character looking for revenge. I think his guilt for the massacre of his village being partly his fault is nice.

Murni: female character whose whole purpose is to act as the motivation behind the main male character.

Gantari: my first impression was ok tough girl character and then she actually fucking dies to act as a martyr for Panji's final fight. FUUCKKKK DUDE. FUUCKKKKKKKK. If im not wrong, her character was actually kinda going somewhere but then she just became Murni V.2.0.

Kalawereng: typical goon badguy.

Lembugiri & Bramantya (i forgot the third one): im actually interested in the three brothers' relationship with each other n the magic stuff. Probably the character dynamic i enjoyed the most from the whole film.

Kuwuk: uhhhggggh theres something with indonesians and having to include a comic relief like him. With the tone they're kinda going for, i think he was not needed at all or at least he couldve been made into an actual character instead of just a comic relief soundboard.

ANIMATION & ART

For the most part it was far from MAPPA levels of animation ofc, not bad for Indonesian 2D animation but not that good either. Though its you can definitely see its mostly an issue of budgeting cause during the important fight scenes (especially the final fight), the quality was pretty damn good. I'm fond of the weighted lineart style they did, it makes the film look unique but at times it does make the animation look less "polished". I remember clearly that they used two toned cell shading which i think is not needed because must've costed them more time and effort just to get something that didn't end up looking too flattering. I'm just saying.......simpler shading can be infinitely better esp if done right..... The difference between how the males and the females are drawn is quite jarring. Both the faces and the bodies.

What i do like about the movie is how you can see what inspired the artists and animators of this film like i'm guessing street fighter and definitely avatar though i wish they curated more of their own style and designs to be more #indonesian instead of animations from outside of this country. I also like the use of traditional indonesian instruments for the soundtrack and last but not least I LOVE HOW BARA THE CHARACTERS ARE LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THAT WAS SO ENTERTAINING TO WATCH FUCK.

the whole flood thing

an "abandoned" civilization, the domestic cats and dogs living in the wilderness. i dont think it was that long ago since the flood that first killed the humans there happened, mostly due to the dogs. theyre very social and seem to already be acquainted to humans (ex: asking the other animals to play w em), which means they at the very least spent their childhood under human care.

so how did the animals survive but not the humans? maybe they all got sacrificed, there are boats, yet no human survivors. so it seems the most plausible to me, but, why?

the buildings made by the humans dont look to be destructive to nature at all, there isnt any advanced technology made by them. so it cant be for that reason.

the sculptor seemed to love cats a lot, maybe the humans there loved nature way too much. did they sacrifice themselves to stop the flood, or was it to start the flood instead?

Animation

fuckingggg beautiful. i love seeing water in video games. im kind of obsessed with it actually. so. a whole movie with lots of realllyyy nice water physics is a treat for me.

Also the whole cast of this movie is comprised of animals. That's quite impressive to animate isn't it? When animating humans, people like to record their own reference videos. But these are all animals! that means they gotta use videos they can find on the internet right? which means they cant exactly always have a perfect video to reference from so i wanna salute to the animators for pulling all of the character acting really well. Cause again, they're all animals who don't talk. So ALL of the acting relies on how they behave and move.

Where do i start?

I got into CSM before it got an anime. I was looking through the gallery of an artist i recently found on instagram at that time, then a particular piece caught my attention. It was of a dude with a chainsaw on his head with guts and burgers flying around him. My eyes looked for the tags which said "chainsawman" and the rest was history.

CSM was the second? or first (most likely second) manga i had ever "finished" in my life. The first one was golden kamuy. (I have a certain taste in humour)

Now I'm a slow reader, it takes me a while to read and digest what i read, and i don't like sitting doing the same one activity for too long so it took me a while to finish. But when i'm really getting into something, i love to constantly have a stream of content of that thing coming my way. So i checked the csm tag on tumblr from time to time, and that is where i got spoiled for reze's existence.

It was one of those aesthetic posts, it had her face and stuff and i only saw her for a second but DAMN! i thought she looked really cute. I actually fell for Makima for a moment, when she hugged Denji i kind of fell for her too, but i kind of knew she was evil and i got alarms blaring at me during their convo in the car so it was short lived. REZE THOUGH... haha.... haha... ha.. hah......

MOVIE

I'm a very lucky person. The Reze movie dropped on my birthday, and i got to watch it despite how busy i am with college, and i got to watch it with friends, and the animation style is better than the S1 anime's style, and all of that for the movie about my (current) favourite character of this series??!!?!?!

I kind of sped through the manga so this watching experience made me finally appreciate Angel devil. I used to not give a fuck about him because how could i? When there's fuckibg Reze. But i understand him more now, his relationship with Aki, exploring Aki's character and his relationship with devils. And his own character, his past and how he views his role as a devil

ΑΝΙΜΑΤΙON & ART

It's clear, this one's the holy grail of this movie for me. I love that it's vibrant, i love the lineart, i love the style, i love the rendering and everything. The character animation is great. And i particularly love looking at the eyes. To me, one of the most distinct parts of Fujimoto's style is the way he draws eyes, and im insanely glad that this artstyle they use here got it right. The way Reze and Makima's eyes are coloured when Makima kills Reze. So good.

Something also worth noting: every single expression Reze makes is sooo well drawn, they wanted the watcher to fall in love with her too.

VOICE ACTING

Reze's voice actress.... did so good.... I wasn't particularly hyped when it was revealed after season 1, but hearing all of it here in the movie, was so good. It fits her character sooo perfectly! Who wouldn't fall for her if they were in denji's shoes? She's sweet, she's cute, she's so great at her job to get Denji to fall for him. And so much of that was expressed by the voice acting!! I didn't think abour how much having her lines voiced could change the experience for me but it blew my mind just how much her voice acting moved me. She's just so.... sooo sweet...

MUSIC & SOUND DESIGN

I lied about the animation/art being the best part of this movie, the auditorial experience was also an insanely positive one.It has the advantage of being something that's exclusive to a movie's experience--as in, you know, comics cant have any music and noises playing--but I'm not just talking about IRIS OUT, im talking about MOST of it.I wanna get my one complaint out first and foremost. Some of the sounds werent loud enough for me, thats it. Maybe i'm just a bit deaf, but i think having the music and the explosions be maybe 30% louder would've been a nicer experience for me.

BUT WITH THAT ASIDE AAAGHHHHHHHH The kissing scene!!!!!! The happy music mixing with the scary ambience!!! I need to listen to it again but the mix of those two was so good!!!! It's a wonderful job on such a wonderful scene!!!! That scene in general was flawlessly done.

And the sentimental track, the one from the swimming scene and the ocean one was so powerful!!!!! It made flashbacks hurt SSOO MUCH MORE. THIS is how you adapt a comic! what was originally a visual experience, being made even more powerful with the auditorial stuff!!!

REZE

Oh Reze... It's hard for me to like female characters because i feel that most people write them horribly, but that's not the case with Reze, and that's why i like her i guess.

She's cool both in design and personality and story. She's cute, she's funny, she's a very tragic character and she gets scared and she's smart and she does her job so well but she has feelings and she's still uh... "human"I guess i just love seeing female characters that truly FEEL things. Female characters who are cool or strong, yet flawed.

I think my favourite scene of her in this movie was the one where her eyes were twitching on the school rooftop. I don't remember if it happened in the manga, but that was a really nice look into her "true" self.

God, she is soo so smart and skilled and cool. But she's still "human" and thats the best part of her character in my opinion.

I'm very sad that now that the movie is out, this means it's kind of the end for Reze content but, hey, it has been a really good ride so i can say, with no weight in my heart, that i am completely satisfied.

God, do i love her design and how she's drawn so much. Her hair is amazing.

i came into the theater with as little information as possible about the movie other than the few posters and clips ive seen (turtle) along with a 3/5 review from my friend saying it was good. i thought it was a horror film at first, which i usually prefer to dramas, so i was hesitant about watching a 2 hour thriller drama about a subject im not the most knowledgable about. im glad to say that it was very very very enjoyable for me!

(personal religion shit ramble)

its ramadhan, this year so far ive prayed for a total of 1 time. im a highly devoted muslim(sarcasm). ive recently had more thoughts on the matter of religion. to put it shortly: i dont respect islam fully, but i dont think i can ever not believe in it. im not sure why, probably guilt.

now ofcourse i dont respect the religion fully. being AFAB, and queer in both gender and sexuality, following this religion would say that i dont respect my own identity at all, but i do. and i hate certain teachings of this religion (especially ones that have something to do with women). its frustrating because i hate this religion yet i respect it, i understand people who have left it but i dont at all. i prefer not to talk or think about it cause it makes me want to puke.

i cant hate it fully because it has made me a better person i believe. i dont pick leaves, i dont kill ants, i dont lie, i try to be nice and a decent person to people, i always made sure to give a portion of my daily allowance for charity at school even if that meant id have less money for food, and i just try to be a decent person overall partly because of this religion's teachings. maybe this says more about me, that im only a somewhat decent person cause a religion tells me to be one, but thats better than not being a good person at all right? i think i would have been crueller without these teachings. i used to be homophobic because its a sin, but i also was never aggresively homophobic BECAUSE of islam's teachings because the prophet never taught us to hate. i just thought it was wrong but i would never justify hurting the community. a large portion of the horrible teachings come from muslims, not islam itself. correct me if im wrong.

theres a mosque and boarding school in my country, found and dedicated to muslim trans women. i read the article sometime ago and cried. these people probably have faced horrible treatment for their identities that ive never experienced, yet, they still are so devoted to their religion. how can you believe that god wouldnt hate you? i wish i could be sure of that too. the founder of this mosque passed away a couple of years ago, i hope their god loves them just like anyone else.

now onto the movie itself

cinematography

definitely stood out for me! beautiful use of the architecture and all of the uniforms and outfits. so many striking compositions and framing, not to mention the colours. some memorable ones are:

mc and glasses guy in the red walled room, the room itseld isdark and its quite hard to see whats going on but the mc sits under a lamp and rhe friend stabds infront of the white of the drawer, making it easier to make out bpth of their figures against the red wall.

engaging. especially again for a subject like this, i was not bored for even a second of this movie. it was a little hard to follow early on because i dont know much about christian and catholic terms but by the end i got the hang of it.

WOKE ASS MOVIE bro

lawrence's doubts, getting an inkling of misconducts within the church or whatever, he wants to push forward but he then steps back, and then pushes forward and forward to the point of breaking in the late pope's room. he and the other liberals were fighting to keep the conservatives from winning but even in their side there were things to be resolved. he was almost alone in this journey. things kept unfolding one after another the same pace the new guy found out how horrible some of the people act there

writing the actuql story Review part was the hardest lmao i need and want to watch it again but point is i love all of the characters and how they act, i love lawrence's character and his actions a lot, how unsure he is.

and the new guy? man.. "i am still the way god created me" "maybe thats what is special qbout me" (forhot the actual lines but its soemthing like that(i get it mixed up with the subtitles and retranslate it from there))

man.. "the way god created me" no hatred for himself. for his body. and still so kind and devoted to his god.. i wish there were more accepting big religious figures in the world. the late pope protected him, offered him the surgery, all that in secrecy, and appointed him as a cardinal.

every religious person is always biased wirh their bigotry that im not sure what to think about my own identity

course some people say its a sin through and through and that we should be slaughtered like we're lesser than animals, theres people who say its fine as long as we dont act on our queerness and try return to the right path, then theres queer people who still pray 5 times a day and more despite all of that.

If you feel sleepy or not focused in some way, I suggest you watch this movie another time since it does require its viewers to use their brains.

I was not surprised that the director decided to explore the love between to men. Although homosexuality is still viewed as a taboo in Japan (as far as I know), both the director and our two stars (Matsuda and Ando) did not hesitate to create an amazing film which will leave you breathless and emotional, throughout the entire story.

The thing that caught both my curiosity and attention the most was the way Miike portrays love in an environment such as a prison.

Here we have two young men, both charged with murder arriving at the same time to the prison. Kazuki and Ariyoshi.

Ando and Matsuda did an excellent job portraying their characters.

Although I feel like there has not been enough character development, the acting of these two in this film completely drags you into the story and does not let you leave until the last minute of it. By lack of character development, I refer to the fact that there are very few scenes where we see the bonding between Kazuki and Ariyoshi happen.

I know, this is all artistic freedom and Miike's style, but I feel that there should have been at least a few more scenes with only two of them together where we could have a better and more of an insight into their minds as a whole. It seemed to be that when these two are together,  their minds form this single large entity and they function on the same level. Same vibes. Therefore, I wish the viewers were given a few more minutes of just the two of them, exchanging thoughts and stories.

Nevertheless, there are several scenes where the relationship between Kazuki and Ariyoshi is portrayed perfectly.

First we have the scene where Ariyoshi is being teased (or bullied, even) by other inmates, and Kazuki starts a fight in order to protect Jun.

This is the moment when one realizes that Kazuki does not behave so violently for the sake of trouble and fighting. He wants to protect Jun. But why? Jun is his safe haven, it seems. For Kazuki, Ariyoshi is someone he can talk to, someone he can open up to. He never felt that way before. Having grown up in tough conditions, parents who cared very little if at all, and a lifestyle of a criminal from the youngest age, Kazuki never knew how to take a different path in life. And he sees something different, perhaps hope even, in Ariyoshi.

The second amazing scene, and the best of them all in my opinion, is the scene where the two men are outside and talking about death. Is there Heaven? Do they want to go to space or to Heaven? The secrets of the universe remain hidden to them of course. Kazuki is tormented by his past crimes and memories (these having been triggered by the prison warden whose wife Kazuki had raped; she committed suicide later) and he seeks shelter in Ariyoshi. The amazing part of the scene is that the two talk but you find out soon that their lips are not moving.

It seems as if they are simply exchanging thoughts. Telepathy at its best. And empathy.

All they need is to look at each other and they know what the other one wants to say. This is how I understood the scene and it's simply brilliant. A perfect example of Miike's genius.

Kazuki breaks down and Ariyoshi holds him. He approaches the man and simply wraps his arms around him. Now, mind you. Ariyoshi dislikes physical contact. He feels no sexual attraction and thinks that sex is actually disgusting.

But he still wants something from Kazuki. He feels strong emotions, his own kind of love and attraction.

Kazuki pushes him back and the scene ends there. Soon after, the story of Kazuki's death unveils.

That is the thing that I found the most confusing. Although I am used to Miike's work, I felt that perhaps he should not have revealed Kazuki's death at the beginning. I know, I know; the movie was about revealing what happened and why, who killed Kazuki and what were the motives...

The entire movie makes you wonder why Ariyoshi would then end up killing Kazuki. He did not though. The rope marks make this clear but what happened then? I wonder how the viewers would feel if Miike dropped the rope marks idea and made us all think Jun strangled Shiro to the very last part of the film.

I think the truth would then come as such a heart-breaking thing.

But nope. We find out quickly that there is no way that Ariyoshi did it.The jealous Tsuchiya, thinking that his "lover" Yukimura, had something to do with Kazuki, goes on a suicidal mission. Tsuchiya came to the prison for murdering his unfaithful wife but he regretted it. He thinks that it would have been better if he just killed her lover. So now he would attack Yukimura's alleged lover, but not to kill but to get killed. He knew he stood no chance against Kazuki.

A strange plot twist, isn't it? But little did Tsuchiya know is that Kazuki too was suicidal. He simply lets (even helps) Tsuchiya strangle him with the rope and Ariyoshi watches is all. Later, he wonders why did Kazuki not let him, Jun, kill him. That is why we see him strangling Kazuki's already lifeless body.

The story comes full circle as the rocket by the prison takes off causing a blinding white light. Is it Kazuki going to space? Or is he in Heaven?

Overall, the movie is a strong hit to your feels and you will enjoy it. At least I hope so. For some it is strange and... Well, yes. It is a strange movie but I like it because although strong romantic emotions are implied throughout, Miike manages to portray those bonds without a single romantic touch or kiss of the characters.

He portrays human relationships, a relationship between two broken men, the way they usually are in life and this is what makes this movie extraordinary.
