My interpretation of that scene (when her nephews go for Owen instead) was that we as the audience are supposed to sympathize with Claire. She, as the protagonist, is getting attacked on all sides, struggling to keep it all together. By the end she proves to everyone that she's the badass (culminating in my favorite moment is when you see Owen fall in love with Claire when she tosses the flare at the I-Rex).
no, i get that, it just doesn’t make sense for the kids to say that, though? even though she blew them off in the beginning, she’s still family. i sure would want to stick with family over a complete stranger who drove backwards pretty quickly haha.
