the word they have translated as "conventional train" is "在来線" which is one I had to look up
but the reason I paused at all was because...the fuck is a "conventional train"???? have you ever heard that word used before??? because i sure as hell haven't
i immediately assumed it was just a local line, but I'm pretty sure there's another word for that in jp (after a brief search: yes, there are a few ways to say this: it's usually 各駅停車, which more specifically denotes a train that makes a stop at every station (((this literally translates to "every station stop train"))), and also 普通列車, which translates to something like "ordinary train" which is just denoting that it's not an express or limited line or anything)
either way...it seems like a better tl here would still be something like "local line" bc i've never heard "conventional line" used haha
