Hiya!! This is my second ask (to anyone ever) and in really close succession to my first so I’m sorry if I mess up the etiquette or anything-
I’ve been trying to get into drawing more recently but I can’t find an art style I like/can consistently draw in.
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find yours? It’s cool and I like it :3
IM SO SORRY I DIDNT SEE THIS! Thank you for liking my art and dw I don't mind you asking! I'm not too good w explaining but I'm gonna try my best for you!
I am self taught and I been drawing for who knows how long. For me, looking at books and references is always helpful in drawing and finding what works for you. I really like anatomy but I also like to keep it simple. Even tho I don't trace bases or references its still a good stepping stone! (Don't copy it exactly but for poses and such, it's a wonderful learning exercise)
I like looking at other peoples art and find techniques that I never thought about that would make my art come out more like shading, lining, coloring ect ect. For example I did a Tove Jannson study and I looked at her books and tried to find what I liked about the style before I drew the characters they way I wanted and in a style I liked when I did. There are lot of resources online like Pinterest (I use this a lot I'm afraid) and books in libraries that should teach you some techniques and basics of how to draw.
You probably have heard of this before but practice, practice, practice! Warm up sketches are a thing, draw a cat or something simple before trying to draw out other things and it gets you in that zone.
That's all I have for advice for right now but I'm always open for other questions!!
