In celebrating 100 years of the Pulitzer Prize, Harvard's Nieman Reports highlighted 10 lesser-known Pulitzer winners in their quarterly publication. There was the 1977 project on mental care facilities by legendary Acel Moore (at right) and his co-author Wendell Ravis Jr. This photo is of them waiting to hear whether they got the top honors for their series that contributed to the closure of an abusive state mental health facility (they did). Acel Moore was the first person I had ever heard use "community service" to describe the role of journalism.
