With the 18th overall pick, The #DallasMavericks select... #JoshGreen, Guard, Arizona I don’t watch much college basketball outside of the Tournament, so Ill let real experts tell us about him. Here’s a write up from #TheAthletic ... “The Dallas Mavericks selected Green with the 18th pick of the NBA Draft, and if all this goes as planned in the long term, it’s probably not because Josh Green is very good at one thing. It’s because there’s a variety in what he’s very good at. But at some point, Green has to be a value-add when he’s chased off his spot and sheer athleticism won’t always guarantee a path to the rim. Otherwise why would the Mavericks invest in the pick? Green doesn’t appear to be that guy yet. The variety in what he can do at a high level offensively is not as substantial as it can or even must be. Still, it must be noted that Green is an effective defender; we can debate the reliability of individual efficiency numbers at that end, but for whatever it’s worth, Green posted a solid defensive rating (93.3) as a freshman and his 1.9 defensive Win Shares ranked second to Zeke Nnaji among Arizona players. So you start with a frame that allows for deployment at multiple positions. You add some grit and a willingness to mix it up defensively. You drop in some auspicious signs about the potential to knock down an open shot and stretch the shooting range beyond the 3-point line, and then, given the player’s age, you have plenty of time to tidy up the areas that need some tidying. After taking all that into account? In Season One of Arrow, Slade Wilson —  the future villain known as Deathstroke! — was introduced, and as I watched the first season, I imagined that the writers would pull the trigger on Slade becoming Deathstroke sometime around Seasons Four or Five. But I didn’t have to wait that long, because that and so much more occurred in Season Two!
