He is so much physically stronger than Joseph but it’s rare to feel he’s the emotionally strong one in this relationship. He combs his fingers through Joseph’s short, brown hair already showing signs of early graying. He rocks his brave, strong, human lover back to sleep. After that night, Tom no longer feigns sleep, waking when Joseph does, holding him or just touching him. Neither of them says it but they both feel better, safer, after that.
