Another one of my favorite rarepairs for Valentine's week, North and Josh (Jorth) from Detroit: Become Human ❤️

I missed drawing them and I'm glad the DBH fandom is alive again with new fans (but this will be my humble contribution for now hehe)

i am SO sorry this took me like 2 weeks to answer. in my defence i had a medication and HRT change and it made me very sleepy

i started out by browsing a lot of JetPhotos because it's kinda like. THE plane photograph gallery and from what i understand it also has some of the strictest photograph quality standards (to the point of pissing off people on reddit sometimes), but it does mean you can find some really good clear images. on the website if you go via advanced search you can select which model of aircraft you're looking for and it isn't limited to just airliners.

The main limit of JP is that most of the photographs are limited on angle. Generally they're all side on - you can sometimes find others but they're not as common. I do always prefer an actual photo ref if I can get one but it's not always possible. If i can't get a ref of the angle I want, I often go on sketchfab or similar 3d model sites bc there's some amazing work out there by modellers who've made them. I would like to get actual models one day for my house but i have zero shelf space atm and can't afford to start buying models. Bc I know when I start collecting them I won't stop.

I do this bc I have realised a year ago that I have aphantasia, and I really do need lots of references for things bc I can't imagine what I'm trying to draw. Usually what I get a 3d model or photo for is so I can see what a plane is going to look like from a certain angle, and it's often so I can judge if like. Hey, If i view it from here, would you actually be able to see that other winglet?

So this can be read as platonic or as a ship! Either way I think it's adorable. Warning for North kinda thinking of her past (just mentioned), anti-android stuff and lots of cursing. Like, let North curse.

Those god damn, stupid fucking humans. She hated them all. She hated their sneers, she hated their scents and she hated how they leered at her. They could all rot in hell for all she cared, but Markus had run a peaceful revolution and now they were all supposed to 'live in harmony'.

She could admit there were some humans that were… ok. She met Carl and had to admit he wasn't a total waste of time. Markus adored the human so he got a pass, plus he was actually kind of fun to banter with.

Connor's humans were weird, and she tried to avoid them. Not that she couldn't take them on, but she couldn't stand Connor's puppy dog eyes if she got too snippy. At least those humans snipped back but respectfully.

Other than that they all were trash. Androids were far better, they understood and accepted her. She still didn't talk about it much, but it wasn't hard to figure out given her model. Oddly enough she connected with Connor due to it, they both had jobs and missions that were so against their nature and wants. Not that others went just as much as slaves as them, but jobs like taking care of a sweet old person just didn't seem as bad.

So when the day came that was filled with having to interact with humans she knew it was going to be hell. If she snapped too much her friends would all look disappointed and she wasn't actually cold-hearted not to be affected by that.

What made it even worse was that she was running late to the first meeting because of course, everything was going to shit already. She ran across the street, flipping off the cars that honked at her as she went.

"Fucking plastic." A man sneered, glaring at her. She tried to take a deep breath, she didn't need to get into a fight.

She should have punched that dick in the face when she had the chance because the next thing she knew she was being shoved backward. She fumbled for a second, legs hitting something cold and hard before she fell back.

She let out a surprised yelp when she was suddenly immersed in water. She pushed herself up, glaring at the human who pushed her, but the look turned into one of surprise when said human was punched in the face.

It gave her a chance to realize she'd been pushed into a surprisingly deep fountain, and now she was drenched in water.

"The fuck!" The human shouted, cradling his nose as it bled.

"I just broke your nose, I suggest you seek medical attention. You should also know that you assaulted my friend and given the new rights you could be held accountable, but if you leave now I will not call the cops." Josh spoke calmly, glancing over at North.

Her jaw was practically in the water. Josh, the most pacifist man, more so than Markus, had punched someone?

The human sputtered, looking between the two, recognition drawing on him. His face paled and he scurried away, knowing if anything more was to happen the press would have his ass.

"I have to admit, I didn't expect that from you," North said, glaring down at the water she was still sitting in. What a fucking mess.

Josh smiled slightly, walking over and holding out a hand. "I figured if I didn't you'd do much worse… plus he did deserve it for pushing you."

North took the hand even though she didn't actually need help getting out. It was still oddly nice, though she wouldn't think too hard on that. "You'd be right, I would have poked his eyes out for even looking at me." And then chopped his hands off for touching her. God, she hated being touched, but her friends were the expectations. Even then she avoided it, not too fond of the memories it brought with.

Josh chuckled, sliding his long jacket off and offering it to her. She raised an eyebrow but took it, wrapping the warm fabric around herself. It was far too big on her, but she wasn't going to give it back now. "Your braid…" Josh trailed off, pointing to her hair that had come off from falling into the fountain.

She let out an exasperated sigh, pulling it completely undone so she could fix it. "Fucking wonderful."

"Can I?" Josh asked, interrupting her. Her fingers stilled in her hair and she thought it over for a second before giving a tentative nod.

Josh moved behind her, carding his hand through her wet hair, and shivers went up and down her spine. She did notice it wasn't her normal braided style, which was easy and quick to do, but Josh was doing one far more complex.

She didn't say anything on it, just let Josh do his thing. It was one of the few times they weren't arguing (even if in jest or good maturely), and she wouldn't be the one to break that.
