Law School realization about Sol A, Sol B, and Joon Hwi's alliance in the competition
Was watching the SolHwi The Way I Loved You edit (y'all should check it out it's definitely THEIR SONG) on YouTube, but other than the fact that it made me realize how Joon Hwi and Sol A were always shown to have traction towards each other the realization that hit me suddenly was that Sol B staring at the both of them was never meant to directly indicate her jealousy. Rather, it was foreshadowing the alliance for the mock trial competition.
Let me start explaining by showing y'all these pics:
Look closely... Sol B is looking at the camera.
There are more moments, but y'all already understand what I mean. We can't count out that Sol B may have been jealous at Joon Hwi and Sol A's closeness, but her stares actually served a greater purpose to foreshadowing in the plot—they were meant to foreshadow their alliance during the mock trial!
Look, I wholeheartedly believe that Sol A and Joon Hwi did end up together but it's exciting to see that Sol B's stares at SolHwi were not for the works of a love story subplot. Rather, they were a device for Sol B's personal arc. Yes, Sol B may have liked Joon Hwi at one point but it was more of a plot for her own progress rather than a mechanism to stir up SolHwi. All of that was to show how human Sol B is, how she is capable of being human, and how she can form a bond.
We were quite blind-sighted in the possibility that there's this minor romantic subplot which wasn't the case since (at least I personally thought) there was never a love triangle to begin with; Sol A and Joon Hwi's traction towards each other was always emphasized and they were simply the only two people in school who wholeheartedly understood each other. But back to the personal arc of Sol B, while her observations on Sol A and Joon Hwi were the subtle reminders to the audience that something is going on and special between SolHwi, it also helped plan and show the future friendship and mock trial partnership of the three.
