I'm sick of sunrises. I hate them. Some people hate kittens or Christmas or marshmallow peeps, but I hate sunrises. I've seen too many. I've stayed up for too many long, late nights and now sunrises just seem like a mile marker between yesterday's panicked nightmare and today's exhausted one -- a sign that the long night is over and the long day is beginning, faced with no sleep and a splitting headache. I remember a time when it meant hope. I remember a time when I still hoped that a sunrise could change something. I miss not being tired.

You were the single greatest thing about my childhood, and losing you was the single worst. El madre is trying to start dating again for the first time. I told her she'd have more success if she stopped putting your birthday in her dating site usernames. I don't think any of us can really let go though, even after 12 years. I mean, Courtney and I both still wear the bracelets made of your cufflinks. I wonder if you knew how much everyone cared about you.
