John Opper, 1955, 55 x 46. Opper was an early American abstract painter and co-founder of the American Abstract Artists group in 1936. He had his first show in 1937. After the war, like many of his compatriots, he pursued Abstract Expressionism, of which this painting is an example, and later a kind of Colorfield abstraction. One critic called him “a substantial member of the New York School.” Available. #johnopper #newyorkschoolartists #abstractexpressionism #interiordesign #artadvisory #americanabstractartists #colorfieldpainting #paintingoftheday #abstractart https://www.instagram.com/p/ClrbvqSpPT1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
