John Kerry was the worst of them all. His entire candidacy was built upon a foundation of inauthenticity. The party sachems thought they were geniuses for boosting a Vietnam veteran to run against an incumbent president who avoided fighting in Vietnam. This was wartime, and the electorate was supposed to believe a warrior could fight wars better.ย Except, oops, framing Kerry as a warrior occluded the fact that he had also been, once upon a time, Americaโs most celebrated anti-warrior.
