βGhana Women Dancing,β 1968, oil on canvas by John Biggers, who was an African-American artist who traveled to West Africa in 1957 on a UNESCO fellowship to study African cultural traditions. This experience had a lasting effect on his work, as evidenced by this painting 11 years later. #arthistory #painting #johnbiggers #ghana #africa #africanamericanartist #women #womendancing #africanfashion (at Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAX7uH8lLro/?igshid=87ia1zwikjwr
