John Callaghan @johncallaghan is aromantic and an “unusual songwriter / performer of thoughtful and spiky electronica from Birmingham.” Unusual fully describes his music, and this whole album is really worth checking out!

The show was created by John Callaghan, whose own experiences with alcoholism and quadriplegia influenced a great deal of the insight, ad perspective from the show.

Some pictures from last night’s gig at Farrs, with Cos curating/compering: Miss Collins & The Rude Mechanicals with old songs and new including the brilliant Paperwork (about office job hell) also premiered the new video for it. Gardyloo Spew joined them on sax. ( I didn’t recognise her at first, cos of her wig) ; Roger 9000 combined classical/sacred vocals with loops and wild percussion. Hypnotique played the theramin - and also improvised with oboe and vocals for a strange silent movie “Trip To The Moon “ with Rude Mechanical maverick Cos Chapman, (whose hi tech/ lo-tech gear I had to photograph), bringing guitar/e-bow to the adventure. We were also treated to the marvellous John Callaghan - who gave energetic performances in a number of out-there get-ups. He started his last song in only his underpants. “You’ve seen it all before!”, he quipped. Up till then, I really thought I had.

The things I know are wrong but don’t know why How can I ever hope to explain Will I ever need to justify them to myself? Can I trust myself to how I feel?
