I just watched “Fugitive of the Judoon,” and WOW. WOW, this reminds me of how I felt when I watched Doctor Who for the first time almost a decade ago. Blindsided by the reveals because every time I thought I had the answer, I didn’t. And even though I knew Jack would show up at some point, I didn’t know it was this episode and knowing that spoiler didn’t dampen the sheer joy I felt seeing him. JACK!!!!!!!! THE KISS! CLASSIC.
ALSO, THE BIG PLOT TWIST?!?!?!!?!? I’M HERE FOR IT. JODIE GETTING TO SINK HER TEETH INTO MORE SERIOUS ACTING?! HERE FOR IT. My only wish at this point, other than hoping that Chibnall sticks the landing with the season-long mysteries, is that we’d get a better sense of who the companions are, what their relationship is like with the Doctor, and see them come into their own. The only one who’s emerged as someone who feels three-dimensional is Graham so far, but I want to see more of Yaz and Ryan.
