Ah, this took him back.
There was always an urge in the back of Mantis’s mind to scavenge like a stray dog, even when he had the cushy monetary support of the KGB and CIA-- after all, scavenging was how he and Eli survived for years together as children to young adults. While his high-and-mighty persona might suggest otherwise, Mantis had no qualms rummaging through corpses or trash to find goods... though he did prefer to do so telekinetically. But sometimes the temptation was just too great.
This was how he found himself hunched over an unconscious man in the quiet alley behind some run-down coffee shop. Believe it or not, he had no hand in whatever had knocked him out-- Mantis simply stumbled across him, and no one else seemed to have paid him any mind. A perfect opportunity to find valuables.
Mantis hummed softly-- though his mask distorted the tune-- as spindly hands trailed up and down the man’s figure, searching for wallets and watches and the like. Upon fishing out his worn wallet, Mantis stood and straightened up, peering down through orange lenses at the poor sap strewn upon the dirty street.
If only Eli were here.
