Wednesday July 26th, 1899- The Daily Journal

Reprint of an article with details on the meeting at Irving Hall. The article reprinted here was printed on two pages. The link in the source and above contain the first page. I’ve also mentioned this is a reprint (I posted the article from the New York Tribune last year, which you can find in the July 26th master post in the 1899 Calendar), but this version is much clearer, so I thought I would post it.

“Please don’t buy the World or the Journal, because we refuse to sell these papers until some satisfactory terms can be reached. The World and the Journal demand arbitration for the striking railroad men, but why don’t they arbitrate with the newsboys? If you have any sympathy with us help us to boycott these papers by not reading them. Take out your advertisements; as no one sells these papers no one will be able to see them. You will find all the news in the Evening Sun, Telegram, and Daily News. They give us a chance to make a living. Buy them and help us, and we will thank you very kindly. We remain yours humbly, THE NEWSBOY’S UNION.”

I’m a bit late to the game in commentary regarding Buzzfeed’s tech reporter Joe Bernstein  “The Culture War Has Finally Come to Wikipedia” – it’s been more than nine months since I’ve posted on WWHP, but Joe’s article set of a sh*t storm that I couldn’t pass up on.

Honestly, I was a bit perplexed by Joe’s article, I usually enjoy some of his articles and viewpoint, but here he seemed out of step…

A nobody named Joe Bernstein (@basher) is on Twitter.

On March 24, 2015, Bernstein flatulated this tweet to his 2,694 followers, of a fat naked man engaged in an obscene act with the head of a statue, with the message:

please, for the love of god, help me make #lincolning go viral

By #lincolning, Joe Bernstein is referring to the obscene act that the chubby naked guy was doing to what Bernstein…
