#job stuff

i am pushing back on an error they made. because i do the corrections at the end of each month and if i correct this error right now in the middle of the month then i would forget at the end of the month and end up adjusting it twice. i do need the correction done now because something else is pending contingent on it. not to mention i shouldn't even be having to spend this much time doing the corrections every month if they just did their jobs properly.

anyway i asked two other colleagues including a manager and they both recommended that a/p correct it. so i wrote back to the a/p supervisor copying the manager and being like 'hey can you make this correction in this way.' and the supervisor wrote back being like 'we wouldn't have to if you made the correction on your end and also why did you copy the manager.'

well i already explained in my email why i don't want to do the manual correction (for audit trail reasons. my entry won't be connected to the po). but also them being like why did you copy the manager feels so passive aggressive.

i've been sitting in on a lot of meetings and i'm realizing that he's also saying and doing way too much which results in him making more work for himself. for example he said that he'd reach out to chairs and vps directly to talk about stuff, and thus when they have questions they'll reach out to him. they really shouldn't be. because we are staff level. we have managers for a reason. some of this information/these decisions may not be up to us. and also managers can receive inquiries and triage.

Got a new job, put in my two weeks at my current job on Sunday, stating that my absolute last day is the 19th.

Start my new job on the 20th.

coworker 1 is very chatty and it's very draining talking to him so on that day i was just scrolling my phone during lunch instead of making conversation.

coworker 1 was making conversation with coworker 2 at lunch on that day. coworker 1 was asking coworker 2 about her past experience. she was a math teacher who taught in junior high/high school back in china. coworker 1 then asked "do they teach classes in mandarin or english?" and coworker 2 was like "...mandarin."

when coworker 1 asked that question i physically cringed. yes, i know that international schools exist. but???? why would you even ask that? is it not natural for schools to operate in the language of whatever country they are in?
