The Johnny Kidd Invitational quietly kicked off last month with two opening round matches not previously announced. Green Ant defeated Tony Deppen in Harrisburg, PA, while Ophidian defeated Solo Darling in Wilmington, DE to punch their ticket to the semi-finals. Our third quarter-final round match takes place this Saturday when Mike Quackenbush competes against his trainee and one-half of the Campeones de Parejas, Travis Huckabee, who won the 2018 tournament. This is Quackenbush’s second attempt to be crowned JKI after losing in the opening round to Zack Sabre, Jr. in 2017. Travis has also been a roll of late in singles competition, besting Jason Gory during Aniversario weekend and Rory Gulak at “Summer Night City” in Philadelphia last month. Can he keep the momentum going, or will the mentor best the protégé?

The Beast Warriors earned a major victory over the current Campeones de Parejas, The Closers, in non-title action at “Aniversario.” It almost wasn’t to be, however, as the Legion of Rot attacked Oleg and the Boar mid-match. Because of these actions, a tag match between the two has been signed for The Johnny Kidd Invitational on June 9th! Will The Beast Warriors earn their third point and a future Campeones de Parejas opportunity?

Travis Huckabee was eliminated in the first round of the inaugural Johnny Kidd Invitational last June, defeated by eventual tournament winner Rory Gulak, One year later, Huckabee returns to the JKI in the hopes of a different result!

Travis Huckabee joins the previously announced Colt Cabana, 2017 JKI tournament winner Rory Gulak, Ophidian, Jigsaw, Solo Darling, and Thomas Santell. Only two spots remain!

Joining Colt Cabana and Rory Gulak in this year’s Johnny Kidd Invitational tournament is a previous Rey de Voladores tournament winner and former Campeon de Parejas, Ophidian!
