The Forerunners in Halo kind of got more anthropomorphized as the franchise went on and the prequel novels came out,
but the Jjaro in Pathways Into Darkness and Marathon are kinda closer to Stephen Baxter’s Xeelee, where it’s not even clear whether they have corporeal bodies at all.
so the jjaro were the first servants of the gardener, right?
and the winnower’s first victims were the w’rkncactner
I hadn’t mentioned it here yet, but I’m an artist on the in-progress Marathon scenario, Marathon Chronicles, being written and developed by The Man/CassandraLeo. The Pfhorums topic can be found at http://pfhorums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=53553 (plain text link to avoid post-squashing); be wary of spoilers.
The very, very short version is that it’s a sequel to both Eternal and Rubicon’s Salinger Plank, meant to wrap up the former’s unresolved plotlines and the latter’s un-fired Chekhov’s Guns. Alpha builds are posted throughout the topic.
Condensed notes on each pic here are as follows:
* Early idea for Carroll Street Station (aka Purgatory), as well as the first Chronicles-related pic I drew of Marcus and Hathor together. Everyone else at the station is a ghost, but Marcus isn’t sure about Hathor...
* Marcus Jones, with and without helmet. It’s been a while in-between the Salinger incident and now, so he got a new set of armour. (Note: Aaron isn’t planning on directly showing Marcus’s face; my leaving his helmet off in most pics is just for ease of conveying emotion.)
* My first drawings of Platina, one of the main characters. They’re in a pretty bad state emotionally and eager to prove themself, and oh yeah--looks nearly identical to Durandal, who was sadly lost early in the second Pfhor-human conflict. Marcus is very interested in figuring out why this is. (Note: Platina being non-binary was a possibility Aaron mentioned recently, so discussion of their character prior to page 10 uses he/him)
* Ideas for Leela’s appearance (note: we’ll probably go with blue; green was included because that’s her colour in M1 and Eternal).
* Two environment pics for Antichthon, the Jjaro homeworld; first is the main council/courtroom of Parliament, second is part of the city outskirts.
* Some drawings of Yrro and Pharos. In this timeline, Pharos succeeded in grabbing a lot of power on Antichthon, albeit under circumstances that still haunt him (let’s just say that things weren’t as uneventful there as in Inmortalitas).
* Sketches of Marcus and Platina interacting.
* Marcus tries to take Pharos down early. There are problems.
A while ago I watched this compilation of UFO footage from the late '90s to 2000, and imagined Yrro being shown something like it and casually identifying which incidents were of real aliens (or Jjaro).
Eeeek! Sorry about the late reply ^^;Anyway, whenever I see speaking about UFOs, I think either at U.F.O. (the old sf series) and/or X-files. I bet the first registrered Jjiaro encounters would have been different.

In primordial space, timeless creatures
made waves. These waves created us and the
others. Waves were the battles, and the
battles were waves.
Fleeing all W'rkncacnter, Yrro and Pthia
settled upon Lh'owon. They brought the
S'pht, servants who began to shape the
deserts of Lh'owon into marsh and sea,
rivers and forests. They made sisters for
Lh'owon to protect and maintain the paradise.
When the W'rkncacnter came, Pthia was
killed, and Yrro in anger, flung the
W'rkncacnter into the sun. The sun burned
them, but they swam on its surface.
Yrro became an angry master, bleeding for
his failure, grieving for the loss of
Pthia. He broke the S'pht into eleven
clans, and spread them over Lh'owon.
And he spoke, yet covered in blood from his
exertion,
"I Yrro, who was your master, have failed
to preserve you. Take your royalty to
guide you, and live upon the paradise that
you built for me."
Before he disappeared, the Master called
the eleven Olders.
One by one they came before him to hear his
words.
Each heard their clan names,
S'pht'Lhar, S'pht'Hra, S'pht'Nma,
S'pht'Kah, S'pht'Vir, S'pht'Yra, S'pht'Val,
S'pht'Shr, S'pht'Mnr, S'pht'Yor, and
S'pht'Kr.
Thus were the sacred clans given names and
ranks.
The eleven numbers, and the eleven sacred
clans.
The final words of the master came to the
Olders: "Don't mistake your rank and number
for superiority. The oldest child may
learn from the youngest."
The royalty of the clans have shared their
knowledge of the S'pht'Kr, each Master
holding a line of the truth in secret and
another line in common.
Each clan possessed two pieces of the
whole, gifts from S'pht'Kr before
departing.
We know the truth of the Eleventh Clan,
that they awaited our unity to join us
again. These tunnels will be flooded and
sealed.
Any who find this place can learn the final
message of the S'pht'Kr, but we have no
time to decipher its meaning.
K'lia, whom we have taken,
Between Y'loa and T'jia,
All in a line,
Replace K'lia with the marsh,
Take the place to be the mark.
Mark the time from our Exodus,
Every 459.231 rotations.
Search the T'jia side,
Quarter way to the sun,
Around and under the marshes,
When all are one,
The S'pht'Kr will return.
A bunch more Jjaro admins, because I’ve had ancient Egyptian mythology on mind lately. Things of note:
* Ra is second only to Amun in the admin pecking order. It’s said that not even his creators know where exactly the light from his sun-disc originates.
* One day, Osiris and Set got into a quarrel. Ever since then, Osiris has been in stasis, though some claim that he’s still able to influence the outside world on occasion.
Every once in a blue moon, you’ll catch Yrro with his hair down.
