Jivi, you've sailed all across the seas of Kasslyne, haven't you? Of all the places you've seen, what are some of the most unforgettable in your mind, whether they were good or bad?
Goodbye Island is a sight... It's off the Sharte mainland, surrounded by reefs to tear your bottom out, and I heard has a volcano at its southeast. But all I saw was its sheer bluffs, high as Sonorie palace almost, with walls and fortifications and stairs carved higgledy-piggledy up and down it. It stretched higher even than gulls could fly, probably stretched right up out of spell range. Anyway, it weren't good but it were notable. Shartes are clowns and madmen but some of their madness they can back up with a fist in your eye.
Much further north there's Anchert, all frozen and blue like glass, with the bergs circling it. When the sun sets behind them it glows golden through the ice like a... like one of those hanging glass thingies that chimes when the breeze comes through. The bergs don't chime but they'll strike you as alive, in a way. The fat gooneys perch on 'em like shearwaters on whales, and you think they'll dive or roll over any minute.
Then there's Meck's Poin, between Alderode and Cresce. The border spills out onto it and you don't know where that spit of land truly lies, especially of a moonless night. It's sunk so many ships.
But sometimes the khert fire licks over it and you see critters and people in the flames. Things from zillions of years ago, or zillions of years in the future. Ghosts. They'll walk out onto the water, closer and closer, looking at you like they wanna say something, until there's no more khert lines to hold 'em, and they vanish. I wonder if that's what the godkillers think happens to 'em if they die at sea. I admit, it'll put the shivers in your fingertips if a man isn't sure Riv's got his back.
