Brian introduced The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Monterey Pop Festival with these memorable words:

Jimi Hendrix's close friend Brian Jones played the vibraslap on the track.

"𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘣𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰, 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘱."

Jones originally recorded a piano part, but it was later mixed out. The vibraslap part he played was retained and can be heard on the final recording.
