"Awww, come on, man! At least wait to see if they get it wrong before spilling the beans!!"

Jianjun pouts and shakes his head.

Jianjun snorts, which then turns into a little laugh to himself. He looks between Mari and Hiori, before gesturing at Kaichirou.

"Sorry babes, but he couldn't fucking fly. Trust me, I tried to get him to do it! And, I was annoying about it! All he wanted to do was lay in the dirt like a, uhhhh... really sad Mothman."

Hm, could that be taken as an insult?

"But still like a, uhh, hot and sad Mothman." nailed it

Jianjun sighs and rolls his head along his shoulders.

"Kino was kinda annoying anyway, right? Maybe someone finally got fed up with his giant chihuahua vibes and just pushed him out the window while they were passing by? Hm?"

Thought Jianjun usually sits through these fun little train trials without much care, he seems particularly spaced out this time. More often he can be seen just staring into blank space before blinking suddenly to refocus on the conversation; idly rubbing his head as he reorients himself.

He's just a little concussed, it's fine--

"Ah... The diamond thing..." He drawls out, scratching his cheek. "It's a special one, actually. Like a death ward, or somethin'... Or, uh... supposed to be, anyway. Probably a pretty good item to have in this place............"

Jianjun trails off into silence for a long moment, before picking up again.

It's muscle memory that pulls Jianjun's hand into his jacket and towards his flask. And, then actual memory that reminds him that the damn thing is empty. He clicks his tongue against his teeth, then settles for his trusty pack of cigarettes. He idly counts how many he has left, before glancing back at the failed conspirators.

A familiar image struggles to clear itself in his mind. This moment right here, with Ezume and Tetsu leaning against each other in utter defeat; it reminds Jianjun of something, he just knows it.

He plucks a cigarette from the pack.

... Ah... Yes, that's it....

They're like rats in a flooding sewer drain.

Just small, wet, disgusting creatures clinging to each other.

"........"

Jianjun looks at Tetsu's hand. Then turns to look around the rest of the group. Back to the hand. Back to the group. Hand. Group. Hand. Group. Until he's just sort of shaking his head ridiculously.

He returns his focus solely on Tetsu, tilting his head so far that his body leans out with him.

"Hi. You do know how the whole 'get away with murder' part works, don't you??? Should we back up to the part where people weren't locked in on you being the only suspect?? Or to when they were saying it was a giant lizard, hm???" 

Jianjun hums; his tone carrying something more like disappointment than much else.
