It's sad I even have to write this.
The fact that it was found Jose Fernandez had coke and alcohol in his system changes nothing about the person he was. You can be disappointed or upset, because let's be honest its even more heartbreaking. But don't you fucking dare sit there and say "he had so much success/money why did he need drugs and alcohol" as if success magically is the answer to everything. Because having money means you do everything right, right? Money never causes any problems right? And to those of you saying he threw everything away because he had that in his system? That's just so fucking disrespectful. I'm sorry but that's not how it works. I guarantee there's more athletes and successful people (and normal people) that take drugs than you'll ever know about. It doesn't mean they're throwing their life away. It doesn't mean they don't care about their jobs and lives. Also no one makes mistakes or doesn't anything dumb when out with their friends right? Just because he's someone famous doesn't mean he doesn't act just like everyone else. He's still a person. Jose Fernandez is still a player many people looked up to for paving the way. Jose Fernandez is still the person who immediately jumped off a boat when coming to the US to save someone from drowning only to find out it was his own mother. Jose Fernandez is still the person with the bright smile that made everyone else smile. Jose Fernandez is still the person who would joke around and mess with teammates and other players. Jose Fernandez is still someone who was going to be a father and was very excited about it. Jose Fernandez is still that person who's gif of the catch is all over tumblr. JOSE FERNANDEZ IS STILL A PERSON WHO WAS TAKEN AWAY TOO SOON AND IS LOVED BY HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS, TEAMMATES, AND FANS.. #RIPJF16

Today, was a very sad day for the little island in the Caribbean that I call home called Cuba. For the city of Miami, Fl. For the Miami @marlins, and the world of baseball as a whole. For the family and friends of those that lost a piece of their hearts that early Sunday morning of September 25th, 2016. Today, we pay our respects to the life and the legacy of a young man that was taken too soon. He opened the doors to heights that some thought would be impossible to reach, and he instilled hope in the hearts of the people of his country. Jose paved the way for so many, and he did it with an optimistic outlook and a smile. His family, friends, @mlb, Cuba, Miami and the world, lost a true talent and treasure, but Paradise gained one hell of a right handed pitcher. May you Rest in Paradise, Jose Fernandez. #16 #MiamiMarlins #JoseFernandez #JF16 Que descanses en paz y luz, siempre. 🙏🏼 Michelle (at Wynwood Walls)

Yesterday morning I woke up feeling something was wrong. And then I looked at my messages and nothing... and then looked at twitter and I saw that my favorite baseball player Jose Fernandez had died in a boating accident. At this moment I'm like, maybe they didn't mean died, maybe they meant in critical condition or something. And I started reading and reading and reading different articles, I started looking at other players media, news from Florida because I'm in Arizona. Everything confirmed of him passing and I started to cry. Why? I have no idea. I had no personal relationship with him or anything but he was my favorite baseball player. When I graduated from high school and was keeping track of who was being drafted for MLB I knew he was going to do well. And then he was drafted and then three years later he had his debut. And I told my mom that I wanted to see him in person and that I wanted a jersey. Whenever they came to play the dbacks I wanted to go to the game. I wanted to meet him telling him I knew he was going to succeed and do great. I feel lost for words for those who are mourning his death. It saddens me for those who are closest to him to have to feel this pain of losing a loved one. I'm extremely sadden with emotions and I cried. Yet I'm just a fan that's 2000 miles away. I hope you rest in the heavens of baseball and maybe someday I'll be able to meet you.
