How to Beat Jet Lag by Thomas Cook via huffingtonpost Jet lag getting you down? Check out these fun tips from Thomas Cook on how to beat it.
5 Tips of Overcome Jet Lag
It’s hard to have a good sleep while traveling on the plane. So when I come back to Hong Kong, I always have jet lag.
Normally it takes a week to adjust jet lag. The symptoms of jet lag are insomnia, stress and bad memory. Also, the ability of enduring the jet lag is according to the age of the person. If the person is young, the ability of it will b higher and vice versa.Â
Here are some personal tips of overcome jet lag!
1) Sleep earlier or later I always travel from the West to the East, from Manchester to Hong Kong. So, when it is morning in the UK, it comes to the evening in Hong Kong. The routine is totally disturbed, especially the sleeping time. So, I can’t sleep at night when I just come back to Hong Kong. In order to adjust the jet lag, I try to make myself as tired as possible in the daytime so I can go back earlier at night. If you are going from the East to the West, the situation is reverse which is going to bed as late as possible.
2) Make several alarms I really like to stick on my bed in the morning, especially I am still not adapt to the time zone. That’s why I always late for a date (I’m sorry, mate!). So I make several alarms that will wake me up in the interval times. Â
3) Avoid some unnecessary meetings If you are still not adapted the time zone yet, try to avoid meetings that the time you would feel tired. I know it’s not a good solution but to avoid some unhappy moments or lose a friend........
4) Sleep in the dark People are sensitive to light. It’s better to sleep in a full dark environment. So I would wear a eye mask to cover my eyes while I am sleeping in the daytime...
5) Don’t eat a feast at night Eat according to the time zone that you are actually staying. When it’s after 12 am, don’t eat a feast while it’s suppose to have a dinner in another time zone to suppress your hunger. When it’s time to bed, then go to bed. When it’s time to eat, then go to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Your stomach has to adjust the time zone too.Â
At least you relax and participate more social events, like meeting friends and go to work, it’s not hard to tune the jet lag.
