jethomas's thoughts on Day 1!
Today was a good introduction to the course and the concept as a whole. I have an interest in education and I believe that the use of online videos is a great way to reach students who wouldn't ordinarily embrace STEM subjects.
I'll admit that I'm not exactly the type to get in front of the camera, and I was a little surprised when that was required for the first assignment. Some of the online videos that I ave enjoyed the most, (and those that inspired me to signup for the course), actually did not show the author's face, similar to the Asap Science videos.
Regarding the homework, the most difficult part of this process, I felt, was deciding on a topic. Honestly, I'm not sold on the topic I choose and I don't plan on using it for the final project, but I did ended up choosing something that I was curious about. I don't see this being a problem in the future as I continue exploring project ideas while I progress through the course.
Umm...didn't know how to use the camera, so I ended up just settling for my iPhone. Spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to figure out how to use it.
Despite the adjustment period, I'm looking forward to Day 2.
