Vlad's Bad Breath by Rory H. Mather and Jesus Lopez
What good is a Vampire with bad teeth? Not being able to see yourself in the mirror stinks... but not as much as putrid breath! When poor Vlad's breath smells worse than death his best friends help him find a way to manage the smell and keep his teeth sparkling clean.
This rhyming picture book with a cast of slightly spooky friends - starring Vlad the vampire - builds and builds.
I loved that it turns out it's not just Vlad with a problem, but his friends have yucky problems, too.
I really enjoyed all of Vlad's confidence at the start, which was swiftly followed by him in his room on his own, showing us he really did worry about his bad breath. It was my favourite spread in the book.
Children will love watching the situation get worse and worse ... And then the great twist at the end.
One thing I thought was a bit odd was the use of the (correct for us) British/Australian smelling of "spelt" at the start before it changed to the American "spelled" at the end.
