My First Review The Seventh Day by Yu Hua
OK! I will launch my site with one of my favorite books, The Seventh Day.
Well, let me introduce Yu Hua to you a bit. According to Library Journal, he is one of the China best-known contemporary writer. Yu Hua has written five novels, six story collections and four essay collections. Quite impressive right. Also, he has won many awards too. Now, let’s get to the main body, shall we?
This book is originally written in Chinese by Yu Hua. It was translated from Chinese by Allan H. Barr. It has altogether seven chapters.
This book is about a man named Yang Fei who died because of an explosion and becomes a spirit with no place to rest i.e. he had no one to bury him. With nowhere to go,he roams the after world aimlessly. Along the way, he meets his beautiful ex-wife, his adoptive father and many others. As he retraces the path of his life and encounters the souls of the people he has lost, he not only witnesses that the after world outlines today’s China but also the vast nation and its absurdities, its sorrow and its soul.
From my point of view, I think this book vividly shows the human emotions, especially love and regret. It portrays not only love between lovers but also the love between father and son. Also, it shows that although blood may be thicker than water, sometimes although the blood relation might not know what one needs but others might be able to fulfill that blank. The reason why I emphasize this is because this is where the book got me. But I personally recommend anyone who reads this post to read the book because I want you guys to know what the protagonist feels and sees and experience the after world for yourself. Maybe like me you guys will also find a character or a chapter or maybe even a dialogue that you like.
